Characters: Red X and Slobo Setting: Nighttime, alarms going off at a few local places Previous Threads: Plot Summary: Time for a warm up after being in hiding for awhile
The stars flickered in the velvety darkness of the night sky. Streetlamps flickered, a couple going out completely in a quick burst of broken glass. Shadows danced in the darkness, appearing much more frightening than most would assume. Tonight however was different.
An alarm blared in the distance as the windows were blown out. Shattered glass flew across the street as a blur of black and grey hurled out of the window. The most prominent feature being a skull on the mask and a red X. His first move was to get up on the roof but he waited. The shadow clad figure waited for the first cop to arrive before...
BOOOOOOM
Up went the squad car in an explosion. Metal flying everywhere. The cop, crawled away. His body severely injured yet he lived. Right now, he was waiting. Waiting for someone to respond. After all this wasn't something the so called Titans could just overlook.
It had been a quiet patrol so far. He always got the weeknight patrols. It made sense, he didn't go to school and didn't need sleep, but there were a lot of quiet nights. This one didn't stay that way long. Breaking glass, alarms, sirens blaring. Someone had made a mess. Slobo turned his hoverbike, making a beeline for the source of the ruckus.
By the time he got there, things had already gotten worse. A badly injured cop lay by the wreckage of his car, trying to drag himself away. Slobo landed beside him, hopping off the bike. The machine locked in place once he was off the controls, and he went to check on the man. He wasn't dying, but he was badly hurt. He needed help, and Slobo wasn't the best to give it to him. He pulled out his T-Comm, radioing back to base. "Slobo here. There's a wounded JCPD officer at my location, get an ambulance or a hero here."
He looked around, his yellow eyes scanning the street. He could feel a threat nearby, but he couldn't see it. Maybe higher? The Top Teen looked up, seeing a shape on a rooftop. He recognized that skull-shaped mask from the briefings. Slobo stood, putting himself between the figure and the downed officer. "Got a reason to be sticking around here, X?" he shouted up at the figure. He'd have to be careful, Red X was a skilled, cautious villain. He had a knack for finding Titans' weaknesses and picking them off one by one. Slobo was tough, but he knew he wasn't invincible.
He watched the grey skinned hero call for a medic and some help. It was obviously the first thing any average person would do. He smirked under the mask. There was one difference though and that was the reason he stayed.
The T-Comm.
He had been wanting to get his hands on one for awhile now. Perhaps it was curiosity or was it something more sinister. He stood up and turned away, purposely making it look like he was running. But he wasn't. He would run along the rooftop until out of site then slip down into the alley below. Doubling back but remaining far enough away so that he could try and keep the advantage. The hero that had shown up wasn't exactly new but at the same time there wasn't any info on him. The big 5 he had data on. Am I getting rusty? The errant thought crossed his mind and he shook his head.
First thing first, was to find out exactly who and what he was up against. Recon the hard way...what better way to start a night.
This guy was lucky. Within minutes, backup and paramedics were on the scene. They took over the scene, rushing to help the downed officer. Slobo quickly told them what little he knew, mentioning that a villain was still in the area and he had to respond. He turned back to look at the roof just in time to see Red X turning to leave. Slobo jumped on his hoverbike, and the machine roared to life. He took off, going to chase the villain. As long as he stayed in sight of the rooftops, he was sure he could chase him down. Red X was mostly human, right?
He was surprised to see Red X standing in the alley below. He hadn't even gone a block, did he just want a fight without police interference? Slobo set his bike to hover in place just above rooftop level and dropped off. He landed hard on his feet in front of Red X, cracking the pavement with the impact. It was one of the perks of his Czarnian strength and toughness, getting to show off like that.
"So is this some kinda plan that involves getting caught, or are you just cocky?" Slobo was playing it off, acting more confident than he felt. He knew X had a habit of researching Titans and finding out how to beat them. He wasn't sure how much the villain knew about him. He was still new on the scene, but there were ways to find out his weaknesses.

The roleplay takes place after the series end of the original Teen Titans animated show, but does not include the movie Trouble in Tokyo. Since then Robin has been on something of a recruiting spree, and many new young heroes have found themselves a home in Jump City as well as Titan Tower.
