Grant Wilson is a complex man even though at first glance he doesn't quite appear to be. He was always someone to hold a grudge against those who wronged him or bested him in any way whatsoever, leading up to the fact he preferred to even the score. Ever since he was young, he has been the person who would look after himself first and maybe another if he owed them. One of Grant's most notable personality traits is his temper. Even though he has learned to curb his temper slightly due to his massive failure at the hands of the Titans, it is still one of his fatal flaws. When Grant gets angry, everyone knows, and even worse he will hunt that person down relentlessly unless they're a girl. If he's around a girl, he has a habit of flirting to get what he wants. If that fails then its back to square one. Deeper than the rage is the mind of a brilliant tactician even if he can't think straight when he's upset. But what may surprise people most is the fact that under all that late teenager angst is the heart of a nerd in a jock's body. Given the chance, he'd stay home and watch a marathon of Clash of the Planets or even recreate its battle scenes with action figures.
The personality behind Red X is similar to Grant's own. As Red X, he allows himself to enjoy the little things while only worrying about what happens to himself. He does everything for the benefit of himself and usually keeps a calm, evaluating sense about him all the while treating life like a game. Unsurprisingly, Red X does have a soft spot for girls, as he never fights to his fullest with them and often can be seen flirting with them whether or not said girl is an enemy. To make things even more interesting is Red X's sense of humor. His sense of humor lies in one liners that more often than not have a gadget or trick to go with it. Though he may be a criminal, he does like to keep the score even and would even go so far as to helping someone he hates if it keeps things even between him and someone else.
POWERS/SKILLS
Strengths:
+ Skilled Swordsman
+ Skilled Hacker
+ Marksmanship
+ Adaptability
Martial Arts - As Grant Wilson, he is capable of fighting on par with Slade and Robin with ease due to his training and his experimental procedure.
Enhanced Strength - With Grant's enhancements, he is capable of denting steel with a single blow just like his father but the longer he continues to exercise his strength, the faster he will grow tired as this is one of his "powers" that takes energy from his life force.
Enhanced Speed - Before the time alteration, Grant could easily outclass an Olympic athlete but now, he would be good enough to get silver. He is capable of pushing this limit slightly but at the cost of possibly shortening his life by 1 day for every second faster he gets but he can only get about 1 minute to 2 minutes faster than a gold medalist.
Enhanced Reflexes - An enhancement of the human's natural ability to react and avoid danger. In Grant's case, he is able to evade projectiles much easier than a normal person. Furthermore, when dealing with something up close he can literally catch it (if its something like a baseball or a punch) thanks to the H.I.V.E. making him their failed project.
Peak Human Intelligence - Due to the procedure he had undergone, Grant is capable of using his brain's total capacity. Although it does make him able to adapt and learn easier it does not mean he knows everything. On the other hand he is much more capable with technology and strategy than most people, putting him near genius level but only with the things he has already learned.
Although he was enhanced artificially, the slight time alteration did in fact weaken him severely hence his reliance on the Red X technology. As Red X, the suit is capable of many functions but only if the belt is on. The suit's belt contains within it an invisibility device used for short periods of time and a teleportation device for quick escapes. The xenothium itself was an unstable artificial element that had originally been designed for alternate energy until Professor Chang realized its potential as a weapon due to its instability and danger. As it was being tested for weaponry purposes, that was when the batch was stolen for the suit as some of its capabilities were already uncovered.
Gadgets:
Motorcycle
Red X Suit
The X Gloves: The gloves themselves are multifunctional with the capability to create X shaped manifestations for various purposes such as adhesive agents to get those annoying Beast Boys out of the way, shuriken or wrist blades, restraints, explosives, tazers, and even capable of hacking into machines.
Grappling Hook
Collapsible Bo staff
Voice Modulator, Gas Mask, and Infrared Vision (Built into mask)
The Old Ravager Suit - Only missing his mask and sword.
WEAKNESSES
- Although he may be smart, Grant is well known for allowing his emotions to get in the way of almost everything.
- Only human, therefore can be killed, injured, get sick, tired, etc. like everyone else
- Has a bad habit of holding back against women
- Limited supply of Xenothium restricts the amount of the suit's abilities which are useable AND how many times the suit can be used
- Unstable powers bring him closer to death again with every use
HISTORY
The story of Grant Wilson starts with his parents, Slade Wilson and Adeline Kane. Both of his parents were part of the US Army when they met, Adeline being Slade's own instructor in guerrilla warfare. It was soon after this that the couple got married. Grant was born shortly after the marriage, when Slade returned to active duty. As a young child, Grant was closer to his father than his brother Joseph was, soon being what paved his future. It was after his father's ego led to his brother's muteness, that Adeline and Slade separated. During their separation though, Grant started idolizing the mercenary known as Deathstroke without ever realizing it was his father.
When Grant was old enough, he followed in his father's footsteps and started military school. At the age of 17 he ran away and ended up in Jump City. While he was in Jump he met members of the H.I.V.E. and soon fell in with their crowd. During his time with them, he was less than a model boyfriend and constantly flirted with other girls, eventually leading to a strained relationship with his girlfriend. His life got worse when the Titan known as Starfire crashed through his apartment while escaping from the Gordanians. Though the Titans did manage to fend off the Gordanians, Grant blamed them for the fact his home was ruined and his girlfriend deciding to leave. Due to his rage at the Titans, the H.I.V.E stepped in and offered to amplify his natural abilities in a procedure similar to that of Deathstroke's. He took their offer and was told that instead of being amplified 90% like Deathstroke's, his abilities would be amplified 100%. What he wasn't told was that this would make his powers unstable and feed off his life energy. Before being unleashed, he was given a costume similar to that of Deathstroke and took the name Ravager for himself. Then he attacked the Titans out of spite and for revenge only to be interrupted by Deathstroke. Deathstroke fought alongside Grant and warned him that his powers would kill him if he pushed himself too far. Grant failed to listen and ended up dying in Deathstroke's arms.
Grant had in fact died that day but as Warp said "If you change the past, you change the future. If you change the future, you change the past". That is exactly what happened the day Starfire defeated Warp. History was changed and the effect does indeed ripple throughout time. In Grant's case, it put him into a near death state that even his father still believed him dead. Due to history changing, Grant lived. Barely. But barely was enough for someone with his power to crawl away and nurture his wounds and his grudges. There was one bright side to this, now that Slade believed him dead, he was no longer under watch. As he fled the scene of the battle, he left the suit battered and bloody behind so that it would be long forgotten until he needed it once more.
A year and a half later, Grant was still practicing his hacking skills and had come across an interesting security tape. He had seen a villain who called himself Red X remove the mask to reveal none other than Robin. Knowing that the boy wonder would end up giving up that life of crime after revealing himself to his friends, Grant decided to take matters into his own hands. He waited until the Titans were out on a mission to hack into the tower long enough to delay the security. He used that opportunity to sneak in and grab the suit before the security could go off. Once the suit was in his possession he studied it to learn everything the suit had to offer, including its limited power source. Deciding to take the suit for a test drive, he raided Professor Chang's laboratory and encountered the Titans. During the raid, he grabbed enough Xenothium to power the suit for quite some time but Robin had out maneuvered him and had stolen the belt. Without the belt, the majority of the suit's functions were useless other than the fact it hid his identity. He let Robin win this battle, but the war wasn't over.
Some time after, he took part in a race for Robin's prize possession while donning the Red X suit. During the race, he was seen to have stolen the belt back but that was only a minor inconvenience for the Titans. As Red X, he came dangerously close to winning this race until a blew him over the side of the road and Robin helped him at the last moment. He hated being in Robin's debt and repaid the favor by disabling the vehicles of all other villains in the race before vanishing into the great unknown. Since the day of the race, no one has seen or heard of any sign of Red X, making his whereabouts and activities currently unknown.
