Characters: Open to all Setting: Around Noon, The Pizza Corner. Previous Threads: None Plot Summary: With the Teen Titans as frequent customers to the Pizza Corner Rawlin helps prepare a new menu item made for his birthday.
Today was a day like any other where the now famed pizza place The Pizza Corner would be getting regular business but this day was a bit different as Rawlin Sbatta had made a special new menu that thanks to the chefs would be either a new hit or a complete disaster. Rawlin had hoped that it was not the latter as he made the preparations for the new menu for all the specialty items he had made for it. Each item was made to a theme that would be made in the style of every known teen titan and even a few known villains. The ingredients would also try to match the theme of that hero or villain too so Rawlin had made what he thinks would be some special new items for the menu which in secret was his parent's birthday present to him when he turned sixteen. Yes instead of a brand new car Rawlin got to make new items for the menu at The Pizza Corner.
The menu as it stands now has added looks like this:
~ The Green Beast: A Pizza Specially made for people like and for Beast Boy. Many types of vegetables on it, dairy free cheese and of course a meaty flavored sauce made from grilled tofu and the standard tomato sauce.
The Shake of Sadness: No one knows how Rawlin got his hands on the recipe for the infamous Pudding of Sadness but he did. Only the brave should ever drink this shake. It's not going to sell well obviously but thanks to Starfire this awful pudding recipe and Rawlin's eagerness to add to it became this: Mustard, Mint Frosting, Goat's Milk and whatever the heck the original recipe ingredients were actually to make the pudding.
The Slade Slider: Despite being a pizza place they do sell other food sometimes but this item was introduced as a way to appeal to both the high and lower classes of society as this quick slider made with lobster and swiss cheese is a very rich taste but in a easy to eat slider bun. Even though it's named after a villain Rawlin recognizes that Slade was someone of high refinement which is part of the reason for the idea for this recipe.
The Boo-yah Burger: A pure angus beef burger with bacon, pepper jack cheese and barbecue sauce topped onto it. The burger patty is the size of two normal sized patties stacked on top of each-other. Made for meat lovers that like a bit of kick to it enough for them to exclaim Boo-yah!
Mumbo Jumbo Shrimp: Though named after the crazy villain who uses magic there's really no 'trick' behind this dish. It's just a simple Jumbo Shrimp dish with Cocktail sauce in a cup fashioned to look like a top hat used for magic.
Old Fashioned Pie: The mysterious flavor of the Pie from the place that Terra and Beast Boy hung out at was never really known but Rawlin replicated it to be an Banana cream pie with the same light texture and creamy taste.
Caramel Pancakes: On the outside these pancakes look they were not made to impress in an attempt to look like Raven's first time making pancakes. Rawlin decided to make the Pancakes sweet and fluffy by the taste despite looking scary on the outside like Raven really is.
The Reckless Robin: Made to be a challenge for those seeking to prove themselves. This dish is actually super spicy chicken wings since eating robins would be reckless and not really that good. Twelve Chicken Wings with Rawlin's signature hot sauce he made using Habenero, Garlic, Lime Juice and some Mango to make it sweeter. The dish can also be made into Tofu Wings for those who don't like to eat meat.
The Challenge Version: 24 Wings with a spicier sauce than the normal version. If you beat the Reckless Robin Challenge you get a coupon for 'Free Pizza for 1 day'. Which cannot be earned again. However for the next 24 hours every pizza order is free. Does not apply to other food on the menu. You will be timed when doing this and you cannot drink any more than 2 glasses of water. Make the water last and eat the wings as fast as you can. ~
It was sure quite a list of new items but that didn't limit how Rawlin would have them prepared. This didn't mean it changed the menu for good but these items were made to be a trial thing meaning that some of them would be put in for good while others might not. Rawlin had prepared the new menus as he set the tables and waited for people to arrive. Rawlin knew that the foods were only a limited trial for others to try but that didn't stop them from ordering a pizza of their choice.
The Titan 'pal package--as Slade was privately calling it--came with an obligatory visit to the Pizza Corner. They were the first to arrive and opted to eat outside on the patio that beautiful sunny morning. It was prime time for a brunch, close enough to a lunch, and was spending it with early bird himself, Robin. Slade played his part of the curmudgeonly old man and it was not entirely an act. The multi-billionaire didn't do fast food.
He squinted at the menu and pulled out his reading monocle. In the beige shirt and tan shorts the combination was not unlike a man straight from the 1800s looking to explore. Perfect for exploring the new menu.
Just because they were required to order pizza did not stop him from looking through the entire menu. Toward the end of the exhaustive list of topping possibilities came other items where, lo and behold, his name made an appearance. His fine white brow raised and the man chuckled deep within his chest. "The Slade Slider," he tested the name aloud.
He felt 'honoured' to have a mention alongside classics such as the 'Boo-yah' burger. "I'm supposing the Shake of Sadness and its repugnant ingredient list has something to do with the alien." he observed with a wrinkle of his nose. "Did they neglect to craft an item for the hooded girl with the dark magic?" The only options left seemed rather tame in reference to Raven: pancakes and pie. He'd like to hear the story behind the connection.
"And there you are, Reckless Robin." He couldn't have said it better himself.
The Teen Titans came here so often that Robin didn't feel the need to really look at the menu. They could probably recite it from memory in five part harmony. He was perched on the bench across from Slade Wilson, enjoying the sunshine and friendship, with his masked eyes crinkled contentedly as he waited for the grumbly old man to decide which slab of grease disguised as food he wanted to eat. Until the man across from him said something bizarre.
"What?" Robin jolted forward, shoulders tensing at the name, only to realize that the man across from him was simply reading the menu. The Boy Wonder didn't remember there being anything in the menu before that said Slade's name. He flicked through the pages curiously, eyes scanning until they found the new section.
"Starfire," the boy corrected absently when the man mentioned the alien. Because she had a name and she was his friend. He scanned the list, making the connections in his head, and opened his mouth to explain the story with Raven and the pancakes when the man across from him read the last entry, that he hadn't gotten to, out loud.
"I'm not reckless!" Robin protested automatically, eyes flicking down the list until he found his own name. According to the menu he was both reckless and chicken wings. The boy scowled down at the piece of paper in his green gloved hands, shoulders hunching slightly inwards, before he glowered up at Mr. Wilson for agreeing with it.
It was a fairly nice, sunny day. The clock had just struck twelve in the afternoon and Maxine was feeling a mite peckish. And while she preferred doing something productive like hunting down criminals and bringing them in for money and hunting down her family's killers she knew that even she couldn't ignore the rumbling in her tummy. That and she found herself feeling really low on energy. She needed some food and perhaps some gasoline and she needed it fast! And besides, even she recognized that she was in no condition to fight anyone. Not until she got some subsistence in her belly. She stuck her hands into her pockets to check to make sure she even had any Earth money for the food. She sighed in relief upon opening up her wallet and seeing some Earth money still in it. So the first thing she did was go up to a nearby gas station and bought some gas.
The gas station owner was shocked to find Max pouring the gas into a glass and then drinking it like it was water. He tried to stop her, to warn her that drinking gasoline was a dangerous thing to do, but she didn't listen for little did the man know she had a tough alien stomach along with a matter ingestion ability. On top of all that, gasoline actually gave her energy. Mimic just continued to casually gulp down the gasoline until she was satisfied. She bottled up the rest and took it with her. She had attracted a fairly large crowd of concerned people who were just watching her in shock. She didn't care much though. She was getting used to the stares and the ridicule. Even on Euremia she was often stared at and ridiculed for being different. Max often wondered if she belonged anywhere since she felt like an alien on both planets. While she was used to them she still hated the weird looks that she got from people from merely doing the things she thought was normal. To her consuming gasoline was normal. Were humans really unable to...? Man, they're weak! thought Maxine bitterly.
With fresh gasoline in her belly re-energizing her, Max in civilian garb took the city bus to a fancy pizza restaurant she heard so much about. She had been meaning to try it, but just never seemed to get around to it until now that is. She was wearing a red mid drift top, a blue and orange skirt with matching blue leggings. Her large hammer was nearby in case she needed to summon it for anything. You just never know these days on a planet like this. A girl's gotta be prepared for anything. She took the bus rather than flying as to not cause so much attention to herself. She didn't want to have a huge crowd of people following her inside just so they can watch her eat and call her a freak for eating her plate. Still even in her human garb she knew she still didn't look completely human what with her pure white pupiless eyes, her pointy, elven ears, and her nonretractable fangs. People might still stare.
The bus soon came to a stop and Max hopped out carrying her thermos filled with gasoline. She then walked across the way to the Pizza Corner. It was such a nice day that she saw other people already eating outside. Two of them: an old man and a young boy that looked around her age sat together peering over the menu. Further the boy was wearing a brightly colored costume akin to that of a traffic light though Max could not tell this since she was monochromatic. To her everybody and everything just looked like various shades of red. She had no idea what any other color looked like and that frustrated her to no end! She often wondered what the other colors looked like. Thanks to her infrared vision she at least knew what green looked like, but that was it. At any rate, the boy's costume looked a lot like a hero's. 'He must be one of those teenaged superheroes I've heard so much about,' she observed to herself. 'I wonder who he is...'
Wondering what good things they had available at this joint to eat, Maxine sat at an empty table not too far from the odd couple sitting across the way. Max didn't get it. Why would a male teenaged hero and an old man be... Nevermind, she thought as she preferred not to know.
After getting comfortable in her chair, Max picked up a menu and glazed it over. Being fairly new to the planet and this city, Max didn't understand the names of the menu items nor their importance and cleverness. Shrugging she read through them until coming across something that reminded her of the delicious food back on Euremia: The Shake of Sadness. Max was actually a little bit surprised to find it on the list as she thought earthling stomachs not nearly strong enough to handle such refined cuisine. The Reckless Robin also jumped out at her. But apparently that menu item was considered a challenge. Frowning a bit, Max reread it to make sure she didn't miss anything. She hadn't. But she also failed to see how this meal was even a challenge. Could most earthlings really not handle that much food? Sad, Max thought as she got her order ready. She desired both the Reckless Robin and the Shake of Sadness. Perhaps they'd let her have the shake as a dessert? That would be nice and suit her just fine.
Rawlin had been surprised that he'd have some customers already though Robin's reaction to his food choices and the names was to be expected. But he might have to explain most of these menu items were only on the menu for a limited time as he didn't want the regular customers to be off put but some of them for good and leave for some place else. Rawlin had known of Robin and the other teen titans mostly from what they ordered. He also knew they were too focused on each other to even notice the red head when they ordered. They would probably only recognize him from their pizza delivery orders but that was also just a guess. Rawlin walked up to the old man and Robin seeing the two hang out like they were friends or something. He didn't want to pry but he did want to correct Robin about the menu. "Hey Robin." Rawlin would say as he approached. "You see most of these new items are meant as a trial for like a week. My parents who run the place let me make this new trial menu as my sixteenth birthday present." He looked back to the boy wonder with a light grin. "The names were meant to be clever or as a joke so i hope you don't take too much offense to it" Rawlin then looked to the old man who was very regal but also a friend of Robin's? Rawlin would have to ask later but would greet him for now. "Do you two know each other? Robin only shows up with the other titans but this is a welcome surprise." Rawlin then placed two glasses of water on the table in front of them while he was talking so he would get more done instead of slacking off. "Are two you ready to order or do you need a little time?" he had asked them before turning around to see the young woman sitting across from them. "I will be right with you miss in just a bit." Rawlin had said as he looked back to the two. "Remember that you don't have to order any of these new items if you do not want to. Everything on the old menu still remains on there." He had said as he waited for their order. His name tag still on in case they needed to know his name. But they would likely recognize him since his bright red hair always made him stand out.
"You're a teenage boy," Slade countered as his eye flicked past him to the oncoming server. The older man didn't question the familiar greeting, but he was quite amused when the server went to explain that he was the one responsible for the new menu items. Mr.Wilson's elderly fingers were laced together, rested on top of his cane as he sat and listened.
"Should have kept your voice down," he said with a low chuckle at Robin's expense. Though the irate Titan wasn't exactly being subtle with his body language all hunched up like that regardless of his volume.
He kept his eye on the dark-haired lad as it crinkled in mirth, a wry grin tugging at one corner of his bearded mouth. "We're pals," he informed the server, Rawlin as he read, with pride. He wasn't going to let that one go any time soon. He assumed that this red-head, chatty young lad was also a friend of Robin's, as he quirked his white brow in the Titan's direction.
When he proceeded to inform them they didn't have to buy anything, the man quipped, "Yes, we're well aware of our consumer rights," with a lazy flick of his fingers. He looked down at the menu again.
"I'm thinking pizza and wings make a wonderful combination," he said with his grin widening. After all the fuss they were certainly going to order the Reckless Robin, if only because he loved to ruffle those bristling feathers of his. "We'll need more time to decide our toppings. In the meantime, I'll take a glass of coke, over a generous amount of ice, and if you have it, a lime wedge. Lemon will do as a substitute."
He glanced over to Robin to let him decide if he wanted anything to drink aside from the water they were provided. Then, remembering something, he glanced back to Rawlin. "Oh and, Happy Birthday." He did have manners.
"Not all teenage boys are reckless!" Robin protested Slade's counter with the sort of scowl that only came with being appropriately labeled and in denial. "I can't be reckless," he continued, oblivious to the approach of the team's favorite server. "I have an entire team counting on me." Because, clearly, that highlighted just how reckless he was wasn't. Even if he'd failed them more time than he could count. Even though the man across from him knew better because little birds sang more when they trusted someone.
A familiar voice jolted Robin and he jumped slightly, shooting Slade a scathing scowl, before turning towards the redhead with a smile. "Hi Rawlin!" the bird boy chirped back a greeting at the other teen. He and his team knew the entire staff. This was practically their second home. He listened patiently as the other boy explained the new menu and how it was a birthday present. That was so cool of them! "Awesome! Happy Birthday!" the Titan leader said, mirroring Rawlin's grin. His smile dropped at the jab about him taking offense. "I'm not offended!" the walking traffic light protested in a way someone in denial did. "Why does everyone think I'm offended?" he grumbled, mostly to himself.
Slade's explanation that they were pals had the teenager snorting with amusement. "Rawlin, this is Mr. Wilson," the spiky haired teen introduced. "He's a trouble magnet. I keep having to go save him, so I figure we'll just hang out instead," the Boy Wonder explained to the redhead shooting Slade a cheeky sort of smile as he did so. "Mr. Wilson, this is Rawlin: the fastest Pizza Delivery boy in Jump," he introduced with that hint of pride in his voice that only came with appreciating a friend's abilities. "We timed him."
The older man joking about his consumer rights had Robin rolling his eyes. Old people said the darnedest things. Then he mentioned the darn wings again. The Boy Wonder scrunched up his nose at the old man's grin, exaggerating in jest, before turning to smile at Rawlin. "I'll have a normal coke," the boy joked, not really one for fuss when theatrics weren't involved. "Thanks!"
Then the boy turned his masked gaze back to Slade. "What's your opinion on pepperoni?" he asked voice light, they had pizza toppings to hash out, but Dick wasn't too picky. "Is it too plebeian?"
Rawlin smiled back at Robin for the compliment about him being the fastest when it came to delivering pizza. "Yeah well I'm probably the only delivery person that is dedicated enough to deliver to the tower every time. You guys live in the middle of a lake so it's not exactly the easiest to get there." Rawlin chuckled knowing that while most would take a boat with an engine Rawlin liked to challenge himself by taking a row boat instead yet somehow he was still the fastest to deliver the pizza.
Rawlin looked over to the old man who seemed to know Robin quite well which made the explanation Robin gave make more sense. "Well It's nice to meet you Mr. Wilson. Thank you for the birthday wishes you two but I should I go see to the other customers now." Rawlin would say as he approached the young girl who looked more like an alien than a human but that wasn't usually an issue as The Pizza Corner was getting more popular with all types of people. "Hello Miss I'm Rawlin I'll be helping to serve you today. What would you like to drink or are you all ready to order?" Rawlin would ask the supposedly alien girl.
(Post is a little short today but here's hoping it's good enough)
The door chimed as another hungry Titan joined the fray. Lunchtime was pretty busy at Pizza Corner, one of Jump’s most popular restaurants, due in no small part to the fact that it was the Jump Titans’ favourite hang-out and eatery by far. Being a Steel City native, East’s archer wasn’t funnily featured on the menu, but that didn’t stop his stomach from growling as he flashed Robin a grin, then an inquisitive eye-brow quirk through his domino mask as he propped his gear onto one shoulder, leaning against the counter for a moment while the other bright ginger in the room took a prior customer’s order down. A firm, decisive nod and chuckle at the menu, then, unabashed joining of his current team-leader’s party. Well, he didn’t sit right next to Robin, or Wilson for that matter, but instead flipped a chair around at a free booth next door to the unlikely duo’s, and struggled to find a cheeky opener both worthy of his sass, and least-draining on his famished person.
“Afternoon, sir! Robbers here steal you away to lunch, then, or is this a less nefarious community outreach measure than I’m thinkin’?” Distracted by both hunger and slight curiosity about the bluenette Rawlin was getting order deets from, Speedy was hardly an example of good manners, but in this state, who could blame him? Well, anyone, actually.
As Mimic sat there patiently waiting for the young waiter's return she put on her pair of dark sunglasses to conceal her alien pure white eyes. As for her large hammer? She had that little gem cleverly disguised as her cane. She had her 'cane' leaning against the chair next to her. Any outsider would likely mistake her for a blind person, but since she was still new to Earth she didn't understand. Mimic's pointy ears just flickered as she eavesdropped on the group's little convo. Having been raised on Euremia by vicious, evil aliens for practically most of her life, Mimic didn't exactly get that eavesdropping on others was considered rude and very poor etiquette. Honestly, it was a miracle that she didn't turn into an evil villain as a direct result of her upbringing. But Mimic was pretty stubborn and as such didn't allow others to dictate how she should act and whatnot, so that was probably why.
When the ginger delivery boy approached her, Mimic greeted him with a friendly smile. She brushed her blue hair from her face. "Oh hey there yourssssssself," she told him in her usual snakelike voice. She had no idea that the poor boy had a phobia of snakes, but it wasn't like she could change her voice even if she did know. "Why, yesssss I am indeed ready to order becausssssse even though thissssss issssss my firsssssst time here I looked the menu over and I gotta sssssay I am impressssssed with all of thessssssse deliciousssssss looking recipesssssss you came up with," she began revealing that she had eavesdropped. "Assssss I ssssssso do enjoy a challenge, I'd have to ssssssay I'd very much like to order the Reckless Robin and for desssssert if I may, the Sssssssshake of Ssssssssadnesssss. Thosssssse both look ssssssssso good and don't worry about me. I can handle anything! Pleasssssse and thank you," she ordered likely stunning Rawlin in the process. She then casually handed the menu back to him like what she just ordered was no big deal.
They were suddenly joined by yet another guy in costume. The guy seemed to know the one called, Robin since he called him by at least some variation of his name. Robbers? Wasn't that the Earth word for thieves? Why would this supposed masked hero call a fellow hero a robber? This planet was just plain weird and not to mention confusing. Mimic observed the redhead even further. He was kind of cute, she supposed. But then so was the one called, Robin. Why must this planet be full of so many cute guys? It was all so very overwhelming to the half-alien bounty hunter.

The roleplay takes place after the series end of the original Teen Titans animated show, but does not include the movie Trouble in Tokyo. Since then Robin has been on something of a recruiting spree, and many new young heroes have found themselves a home in Jump City as well as Titan Tower.
