Characters: [OPEN] Setting: Night time on the weekend at The Verge: popular teen dance club to powereds and non-. Previous Threads: None. Plot Summary: Everyone loves theme nights down at The Verge! Many new faces have been reported around the supers community lately, and what better way to infiltrate--ermn, investigate* your new surroundings than by getting to know your age cohort?
What had begun as a routine patrol had ended up as a very delaying detour.
Grinning, the periwinkle-blue-haired archer admired himself in the reflection of a tall glass of some kid's energy drink. The kid rolled his eyes, then rolled them even harder when his date found herself admiring...himself. Speedy, that is.
Rules were rules, and this being a specifically teen hangout, the staff weren't interested in their profits getting shut down. Mocktails and fauxgheritas ruled the night. Speedy winked a green-outlined masked eye at the girl and got his groove on.
Tonight's theme was Funhouse Fever. The lights had been set up so that complementary colours switched places with what someone was really wearing/actually had growing out of them, all besides skin. Hair happened to be on the menu though, and probably eyes, although the domino-masked East Titan wasn't the wiser on his newly fieryoculars.
Identity breaches were not on said menu.
It had been a busy night so far; exactly two (and a half? Long story) cornerstore robberies and an assist for the police with a rogue biker going at least 50 over the limit gave the prior-ginger cause to want to unwind. Fortunately, Roy Harper's Facebook Events had blipped, and here he was, if in more ostentatious attire. It was cool. His supersuit was designed to be breathable in this sometimes unbearable sweatlodge of a social hub!
And being an awful dancer never stopped most, least of all Speedy, from letting loose.. ..right onto someone's toes.
That person's toe? A certain banished princess and foe of the Titans, Blackfire herself. Though she clearly wasn't in her battle attire as she usually was, she wore the same colors. Which resulted in a rather have like color upon her, white clothing and dark chartreuse hair in the lights. The attire itself was simple, but attention grabbing. A modification of her regular attire without the pieces of armor or gloves on her body. This girl was the one speedy stepped on the toes of, and she turned to face him immeditly.
"Hey what's the problem there, you have two left feet hero boy?"
Blackfire didn't hate the Titans, she only ever held disdain for the ones that got in her way of taking her rightful vengence against her sister. Speedy wasn't among them, so aside from messing with him she felt no need to be automatically hostile. She held no delusion the man would just let her commit her usual crimes of course, but that wasn't a worry right now ether-this was simply a party. No need to ruin her fun because one of the goody goodies showed up.
"Their are better ways to ask a girl for a dance surely?"
She'd chuckle, Blackfire was in a partying mood, she didn't much care what Speedy was right now, their was no reason to. Speedy held no use to her outside of being a potential partner for the party-assuming he didn't get all stuffy like a lot of heros.
This was one of those nights like most other nights Alviss would often sneak out and try to learn about other people and what better way than to go to his now frequented dance club? Alviss was dressed in his normal attire which consisted of his usual blue, black and red clothing. His silver hair and eyes were what made his appearance fit the most since it was the most fitting for rave clubs like this one. When he was here he was not as shy and gloomy as he usually was and he could dance in relative peace.
As he got on the dance floor he noticed a rather pretty black haired female getting her foot stepped on by a masked boy. It did however look like an accident so Alviss tried to ignore it until she mention the masked man was a 'hero'. 'Really? Then if he is a hero who is she?' he thought to himself as he started to dance to the beat of the music. He had been used to dancing here in this club and his speed and agility really played well into his dance moves because he eventually did a few flips and fancy dance moves that drew the attention of other dancers who cheered him on.
As the music stopped for a mere moment to switch songs Alviss took a small break as his human form did in fact get tired. Alviss wiped his brow then looked around to see the pretty black haired girl again and smiled at her before going back to dancing as soon as the music started again. Alviss didn't know what to say to either the masked boy or the pretty girl but he would hope to do something other than dance tonight that was for sure.
...hadn't that hurt? What was that twinkling, carefree tone he was getting in response to a toe-smash? Sure, in a club like this, there was always a chance of running into a super; hero or otherwise; villains weren't the only one getting down in the dark these days, right?
Her unfazed voice sounded pretty familiar.
The smooth-talker began silent, curiously appraising his current, oddly cheerful "victim" with a sorry smile and a cliché bottom-to-top, slow-motion once-over. And while hyphenated, hiccuping structure might have caught some other guy's tongue when they reached the vibing villain's face after the slow march up her well-sculpted self, Speedy was no stranger to said smooth-talking.
"I sure do, and they both left me, Tall, Dark and Tameranean." Okay, so her rosy new colour-scheme tonight threw off his word-game a smidge, but he could play her game just fine. And since she didn't sound too pressed about any pain, he wouldn't apologise, just go with the flow.
"My feet are forfeit, but think you could lend me a hand, help me get my rhythm back?" It was with a wary onset, of a sort, though: every Titan this side of North America knew of Blackfire's betrayals of the Titans' local sweetheart, and her sister, Starfire. Titans East was hardly out of the loop, with Speedy here semi-permanently and his main team in and out of Jump as necessary.
"'Cause I think you could." Without so much as a "may I?", he took her hand, jived to the left and raised their hands overhead, spinning Star's evil twin big-sis full-circle. And then tripped over her ankles.
Reflexes should've kicked in to make his tumble out into a cool front flip, maybe even a somersault to offset how lame the fall had been. What could he say? Dexterity-wise, the archer was pretty good with his hands, but it didn't translate to his feet, not on the dance-floor, at least.
"--it was worth a shot!" grinned Speedy up from the floor at Blackfire, palms splayed back to support himself while he took a second to collect himself, now cross-legged on the floor amidst a fresh wave of giggling and scoffing from a couple of onlookers.
Alviss' attentions at Speedy's new dance partner of the moment were not lost on the gregarious ginger.
This was still technically work-hours at any moment, so the Titan was keeping vigilant; if Blackfire was around, who knew what nefarious plots she might actually have going on in the background. It would behoove the hero to keep watch, and be extra vigilant in this dark yet vibrant arena. So far, it seemed as though the villain was taking a breather of her own, but if she sensed any vulnerabilities, breeding grounds for even 'harmless' manipulation, who knew what she could get some poor sap to do?
Like that friendly-lookin' kid over there with the shiny hair, smiling at her all goofy once in a while.
Of course, Speedy himself was not exempt; as previous quips suggested, he was a sucker for a pretty face, and if he hadn't known exactly who he was dealing with, he'd be looking a lot goofier right now, if that was even possible.
Blackfire chuckled in response to Speedy's response. She did like a man who could play the game back, made it more fun-more thrilling. That it was a hero didn't bother her, it only made it more enticing. If she could give the network of good doers anything it was that it had it's members that could play the flirting games, and ones that knew how to have fun. Well long as you don't come across the stuffy brooders like their leader. Boy held such a narrow world view for the people he accepted into his ranks. Oh well, if their was a masked man she preffered between them it was probably the bow user here. Least he could keep up.
"Is that so? Well, most seem to appricate my unique apprence here.... How about you?"
The princess teased, she enjoyed playing her games that was for sure-and she just hated losing in general so she couldn't have that. Now Blackfire was all for a good dance, and speedy seemed to answer by trying for a good spin! She was quite enticed here, and planned to continue their little game.....
Until he litterly tripped over her, the alien girl using het own powers to float a bit and prevent a massive stumble just in time. She was durable, didn't mean she was going to end up on some dirty floor.
"Worth a shot indeed... You must bring all the ladies to your feet huh?"
Blackfire rolled her eyes and laughed, the hero was still an entertainment despite his mess up.
"Perhaps you need just need someone to show you how to move hmm?"
Blackfire had noticed the other boys smile, snd returned one of her. Out of interest if nothing else. After all the hero boy looked to, or was he just worried about what the princess would do the poor guy? Well... that much didn't matter to much to her-the boy could dance well enough and that served her what she wanted perfectly. So she approached the boy with a smile... Her pose and her movements all to draw his attention to her.
"Would you care to help me show a clumsy boy how to really move?"
She would then reach out her hand, her interest only went as far as what she needed him for-but she sure put on s little show to draw him in.
Even in something as small as this? The princess denied loss with a vengence-even when it came to her partying.
As the boy who seemed a little bit of a flirt constantly messed up when it came to dancing Alviss would chuckle a bit at his attempt to make it better in front of the pretty lady that caught his own eyes. 'I wonder what her name is?' he would think to himself as he just danced like no one was even watching but then out of nowhere he heard a loud crash to the ground. It was the hero boy from earlier who tripped over himself in front of her the girl who apparently had a little flight powers since Alviss took notice of her not wanting to hit the floor with the hero boy who was just overly clumsy. "I hope he's not this clumsy when it comes to his hero work" Alviss thought a out loud but only a little under his breath with a chuckle.
Suddenly Alviss stopped dancing. Not because he wanted to but for some reason he felt a small pull to look in the direction of the clumsy hero boy. Not really wanting to look in the direction of that fool of a hero he felt it grow stronger then dared to look in that direction. In his sights was not the clumsy fool but the pretty girl from before. It was hard not to notice her as he got a closer look. Onyx black hair swayed back and forth with the sight of her beautiful amethyst eyes looking right at him with almost a sultry stare right back. Alviss blushed a bit as he saw her come closer and asked to dance with him.
Sure on the outside he would not show it as much as he stood up straight in front of her and acted like he usually did around anyone really, improvise. "I would be honored my lady." he would say despite the obvious blush on his face. "Yes lets show this clumsy guy how dancing really works~" he would say again smoothly. Though he was tempted to say 'clumsy oaf' and not guy like he just did but that would be much more rude than his playacting put on. It was a rave of sorts so Alviss couldn't exactly just take her hand there and waltz, no he would have to dance like he did usually but just beside her.
Alviss performed a few fancy moves then a leg split before showing off his skills even further by activating his leg jets with a break dance move that let him spin around the floor using his arms and legs to move in a circular motion. With his jet engines on his legs activated he did it really fast that it almost made a miniature tornado, almost like a dust devil in size but he eventually stopped before it got too bad and deactivated his engines as they vanished from sight where they were before.
He jumped up from the ground in a bit of a flip without really needing to pick himself up and smiled brightly. He had a lot of fun but wondered about the hero guy over there. "Did that help you learn a thing or two about dancing there Mister Hero?" he asked a little more with his play acting since he really wasn't this confident at all and just tried something new when it came to this girl he had a bit of a crush on to impress her and the crowd now in the process.
“Of course they do~ As gorgeous as I know I am, sure didn’t fall for myself. Definitely did this for your enjoyment.” As the flirtatious villain all but snake-charmed the silver-haired boy over starting with her mere body language, Speedy’s shifted ever so slightly from his new vantage point on the admittedly-disgusting, obsidian-glossy floor of this joint just as Blackfire’s attention shifted to beckon Alviss.
“Nice save. Ever considered moonlighting as a hero?” he winked at Blackfire in thanks for allowing him to twist her words a smidge here, not necessarily saving any face as it was too late for that.
The new position allowed him to avoid getting his fingers crushed by surrounding, sashaying, similarly unskilled teenagers, while intently observing their interactions up close. No longer resting back on his palms, he brought them forward, huddling and crossing his arms as if he were about to do a cannon-ball.
Alternatively, like a curious child observing the scene unfolding in a picture book held up by captivating teachers.
“Lemme extend the invitation twice on the Hero-ing front! Seriously, that jet-break could be a sweet take-down manoeuvre,” whistled Speedy, making mental notes of this guy’s innovations with the mix of tech in dance routine. Discussing battle strategy in front of a potential adversary might not be wise, but the setting suggested he could lighten up for a second, even if his mind was toying with tactics at a party of all places. The Titans could use someone with such agility and promise. His chances of losing fingers had drastically declined, what with some of their surrounding neighbours pausing to cheer on or just watch in awe as the shy guy and interstellar invader did their thing in the middle here.
As far as dancing, these two had skills to spare! But being a quick study didn’t extend to dancing for the awkward archer the way it might in regard to say, language prowess. That depended upon his big mouth getting a workout; any skills to pick up in this place would take physical practice and even then…
“Yeah, class was actually pretty killer, Professor Pink. Do you usually glow in the dark after a routine, or do we chalk those cheeks up to tonight’s special lighting~?” Speedy couldn’t resist getting in a jab at Alviss’ obvious infatuation with his unofficial charge, especially after the two of them kept going after his clumsiness. It was all in good fun. He finally got up, dusted himself off, and joined in with a series of safe shimmies to the left and right, probably resembling a lanky goose with twitchy hips.
“Ah, don't mean to make you jealous. You were good too, Princess.” He hadn’t learned a thing.
It was a good thing that despite this social flaw, Speedy’s obnoxious self-confidence was so inexplicably attractive.

The roleplay takes place after the series end of the original Teen Titans animated show, but does not include the movie Trouble in Tokyo. Since then Robin has been on something of a recruiting spree, and many new young heroes have found themselves a home in Jump City as well as Titan Tower.
