Title: Didn't have one O n O
Plot: Late Christmas Party
Status: Died
How festive. How incredibly festive was the Christmas holiday. The brown haired fireball knew how festive it would be and she was secretly happy when the Titans had a peace-keeping mission out of the city. They had had no time to do anything for the holidays save for some random carolings that she hadn't actually listened to. So today, although she had no idea who did it, she was in shock to find the Tower decorated with a tree and lights and Christmas feast.
What in the world...?
She thought to herself as she sat on a stuffed snowman that proceeded to sing 'Frosty the Snowman'. "Who in the world likes this sort of thing?" She mused out loud to no one in particular. Yet it seemed that on TV and in newspapers everyone was joining the Christmas spirit. She didn't much see the point in dedicating one day to supporting ones friends. Add to the fact that the teen had never had any real friends, save an old woman named Lyn who was her caretaker, and what you wound up with was a bitter teenager.
Stepping into the kitchen, avoiding the awful sound of the stuffed abomination, she quickly opened the fridge and with catlike agility pulled out some milk. Majority ruled, even if she'd prefer them to leave it outside of the fridge, her body unable to handle temperatures colder than 50-60 degrees. As she heated the glass in her hand she thought about going out for a walk before daybreak. Then she noticed the snow on the ground that was obviously there to stay for at least a few days (if weathermen were truly accurate.) "Yay. How exciting, building a snowman." Her deadpan voice broke the silence again though she realized that talking to herself was an unhealthy habit. Readjusting her red hairclip as she sat down, the girl took a sip of her warm milk and exhaled with the warmth.
Christmastime is here. Happiness and Cheer?
Yeah.. right, her thoughts were very angry today for no good reason. Standing once again, it was obvious the girl was short at 5'3" and that was with added support from her black boots with the dark red heels. She had rainbow socks that were quite obviously a contradiction to her established personality but the black shirt with shuriken design and flowy, dark blue denim shorts seemed to match just fine. Add tan hair, dark brown eyes and gray with white tipped cat ears and you had a Sapphire. A confused girl with a minimal grip on sanity and happiness.
Merry Christmas...?
A house cat padded through the halls of the HQ, then decided it was time to take a look elsewhere. When it saw the new Titan, its reaction was no more than a mere tilt of the head. //Huh. So there's the new girl,// it thought, debating whether or not it should go over there and say hello. It decided that a nice friendly greeting was best. "Mrrow," it said, its pea-green figure rubbing against her legs. So what if he hadn't met her yet? He was Beast Boy, and he knew he had an awesome personality. Or should I say /purrsonality/? Yeah, I know. Lame pun. But yes, this "cat" felt like it'd be a good day today. Would she think him just as annoying as the others did?
Was that... it was. A shoelace! //You're no match for me!// it thought, wriggling its rear in the air. And then... it pounced! Grabbing the evil footwear accessory in its mighty forepaws, it sunk its claws into its foe's villainous fabric and battered its enemy with its powerful hindpaws, a look of complete determination on its furry face.
Starfire felt that she could sort of understand this holiday that was Christmas. There was an emphasis on charity, friendship, family, feasting and some big man in a red suit. However, they had not been able to properly celebrate it on the day it was supposed to be celebrated. Yet, they were doing so now. A tree was in their livingroom, letting its prickly needles on the floor, while shiny baubles hung from its branches and lights coiled around it. When Robin had first turned off the lights for the 'full effect', she had been entranced. What a pretty tradition! While she may not understand it completely, she could take pleasure in the warm atmosphere of this holiday.
The Tamaranean walked through the halls, carrying a mountain of oddly wrapped gifts in her arms, enough to obscure her view. She knew her way well enough that she could make it to the common room without bumping about /too much/, but due to the pile could not see who else was in the room with her.
A nice jog, maybe?
The air outside was cold, and white flakes flurried around a teenage superhero who was about to take off to the Titans Tower. He was only an Honorary Titan, but he'd been in town for a while and often visited the team. There was nothing else to do tonight, so it would be no exception to what was becoming a habit. In full, bright yellow-and-red uniform, the redhead took off towards his destination, and Jack Frost was definitely nipping at his nose, or maybe trying to tear it off. Jeez, it was really cold.
He reached the shore of Jump City, and continued to run, straight over the freezing water, without a second thought. Arriving at the Tower, he considered knocking for a moment, but his impatience got the best of him and instead he used his Communicator to unlock the door and invite himself in.
Zipping up the stairs, he saw three of the Titans gathered in the common room. "Hey! Wow, festive, huh?" he noted the lights around him, and the tree lit up. There were even unwrapped presents beneath it. "Man, I didn't bring anything!" he grinned, while actually considering going out and grabbing something real fast. He could wrap it in the blink of an eye and no one would be the wiser.
Raven sighed as she closed her book she was reading. She knew she couldn't hide in her room forever. She would eventually have to face the bright, warm, cheery feel of the common room. She wasn't too fond of Christmas, but was willing to give it a try. Raven always felt uncomfortable with anything pertaining to families or gatherings. Always brought back bad memories that needed to stay gone. Raven slid off her bed still holding her book as she opened her bedroom door that was locked. She then heard voices coming from the common room. She took in a breathe and held it for a moment before letting it out and starting to walk down the hall. *I can do this.* Raven thought as she reached the doorway to the common room and seeing some of the titans already gathered around.
Sapphire glanced down at the furry green cat. She had done her research before her recruitment and she knew who they were on a certain level and a general description of their powers. Obviously their weaknesses, secret identities and families were not public knowledge and she could not obtain that but she was able to recognize who was who assuming she needed to. This was Beast Boy, the changeling who could become any animal he pleased. Sapphire could sympathize with another cat and nodded as a response to his wanting to be petted by her. "Hello there, Beast Boy?" She asked, not wanting to seem like a criminal who knew too much and was a threat to the tower. As soon as the green kitty got distracted by a shoelace, people started gathering in the common room. Who was invited? The Titans? The Honoraries? New Recruits such as herself. She grabbed a few boxes to assist Starfire.
"Um, I uh, I got some so you can see." She was always worried that the Titans would discover she wasn't totally a hero. She had good intentions but bad things seemed to happen around her. She could not stay long. But they all seem like nice, friendly people. She just had to make an excuse to stay or go or whatever she needed to do. She forced a small smile before sitting a few gifts under the tree.
Having satisfactorily defeated the shoelace menace, the green feline let out a triumphant-- and probably annoying-- yowl before looking around the room again. //Oh, there's Starfire! And Kid Flash, and...// His thoughts wandered off as he saw something glorious before him-- the Christmas tree. All those lights and ornaments and strands of shiny tinsel... a look of joy appeared on his face, his tail swishing over the ground. //Preeetty treee...// he thought. //I wonder how high I can climb? Ooh! And maybe I can get that bird if I climb up high enough!// he thought, spotting a faux dove up in the branches. A blur of green fluff could be seen for a moment before he darted underneath the tree and sunk his claws into the bark of its trunk, hoisting himself upwards and causing the whole thing to shake precariously. //Birdy... birdy... birdy...//
Kid Flash smirked at the familar green cat climbing up the tree, and seeing a few ornaments about to fall, he zipped over to the tree and caught them before they hit the ground. "Whoa, there, Beast Boy," he laughed, "You'll topple over the whole tree!" Pausing to look at the presents sitting under the evergreen branches, the speedster tilted his head slightly with curiosity. "So, is this a Secret Santa or a grab bag, or what?" he asked the rest of the team.
Raven closed her eyes and sighed as Beast Boy was rocking the tree as he climbed. *He's at it again.* She thought as ornaments were falling off. Kid Flash had caught them and then asked how the presents worked. "Good question, not really sure myself." Raven responded as she had only heard of Secret Santa but not really understanding it fully.
How had he been at his desk for two and a half hours?
Robin sighed, leaning back in his chair as his hands rubbed over his face and hair in amazement. He'd only meant to come down to check on one fact he'd been thinking about -something about Cinderblock's last holding cell- and he'd managed to dig himself in a study so deep he hadn't even looked up from the table. It was definitely well passed the time to head back upstairs to check on his friends. Besides; he was hungry, and knew that the break from all the catch up work would do his brain some good. Or at least his hair, which he'd massively disheveled by scratching his head once about every 15 minutes since he'd been down there. He pushed his seat out from underneath the desk then stood up with a sigh, taking a second to stretch his arms up over his head with a pleased groan. He hadn't even been in the chair for very long, and already he was stiffening up. That was a sign, to him, that he'd officially done enough detective work for the day. Making sure to turn off the lights on his way out of the lab door, he wasted no time in getting up into the massive room where the fridge waited eagerly for him to find it.
Voices from the common room told him that most of the team must have gathered there, which only further encouraged his decision on putting aside his work for the night. The holiday season might have been over for the rest of the world, but it was time for the Teen Titans to celebrate. It couldn't hurt to relax for just one night.
As he came through the large doors, he stopped and snorted a little at the sight of Kid Flash trying to catch the ornaments that Beast Boy was knocking down in his mad dash for the dove within their tree. He thought about scolding the green teen for being so reckless, but the idea seemed so tiny in comparison with his desire to go for the sandwich he'd made himself earlier that afternoon, though he hadn't had the time to eat it. Waving a hello to anyone paying attention to his entrance, he made his way over and opened the fridge, frowning at how very sandwich-less it was. It didn't take long for him to appear behind his friends. Rather than accusing anyone outright, he took a backdoor to finding the culprit. "Anyone feel like a sandwich today?"
"Ah, Robin, my friend," Kid Flash zoomed over to where he was making sandwiches, "You know I could /always/ use a sandwich. I'm /starving/!" He grinned and started slicing various meats and cheeses from the fridge, cutting around the standard blue fuzz. "Here, I helped," he said, passing over a ridiculous amount of sandwich toppings.
"How's research going?" he asked, assuming that's what the Boy Wonder was up to.
Starfire was assisted, Kid Flash came into the room, and the tree was rattling fiercely as if a bunogalaf had made its home in there. "Thank you comrade Sapphire." She thanked her pleasantly; though they did not know each other that well yet, the alien liked to be friendly unless given a reason otherwise. She added her gifts with the others, and then paused at the question give. "Secret Santa?"Had she overlooked something in her enthusiasm to get presents for her friends. "I had gotten a gift for each of my friends and labelled them as such. Was this wrong?" Indeed, all of the presents had the white sticker and Starfire's distinctively feminine writing--she had even adopted the juvenile quirk of adding hearts above her i's.
The doors opened and Starfire waved back to him though the gesture was somewhat diminished as she was worrying over the proper protocol of her presents. Perhaps it was all for naught; she was never under the impression that giving a gift, even if without the proper procedure, would be offensive... though this was Earth, and they did things differently than she was used to.
The topic turned to food at least, and she considered her leader's choice. That was a rather modified feast for the holiday was it not. She tilted her head. "If we are not having dinner together, then I suppose I could consume a sandwich." Kid Flash was already making one after all.
Robin got ready to speak just as Kid Flash did, "Wait, I didn't mean-" That's what he got for beating around the bush. He eyed Beast Boy suspiciously, narrowing the sandwich thief down to either him or Cyborg, who wasn't anywhere to be found anyway. He thought about saying something then, but decided to just let the whole thing go. New sandwiches were on their way, and his crankiness was already disappearing now that he was out of the dark lab. Plus, it was hard to stay mad at anything with the room looking as jolly as it did. The tree had really done its job. He thanked Kid Flash for his help, and went to put together a few sandwiches for the room. He shrugged when he was asked about the research, "It's, uh.." He thought about all of the time he'd spent, and realized that he'd been looking at so many things at once that he hadn't really accomplished much at all. He breathed a laugh, and shook his head. "It's fine. How about your work in the city?" He handed Starfire one of the sandwiches as she came over, shaking his head with a smile at overhearing her confusion with her presents.
