Dontcha hate it when your computer fizzes out and flakes on you? D;

We know Cyborg does; his systems flake out so often, villains practically have a 24-hour daycamp out of breaking into the Tower.

If you have a computer-related issue, describe it here in as much detail as possible from before the issue started and during it, and the good guildieTitans here at Teen Titans Go~! will do their best to assist you, to our utmost. Okay, so just last night I was minding my own business, sending Toast a PM when all of a sudden my laptop froze up. So, I just you know turned it off. When I tried to turn it back on it looked like it was trying to go to Windows, but then it stopped with this black screen and a blinking cursor on the top, left side.

I have tried pushing the F8 key to enter Safe Mode, but it seems the F8 key does not work on my laptop. It only lets me use the F2 and F12 keys... Those keys don't do much, so they're pretty useless.

Any assistance and/or advice offered is greatly appreciated. But if I can't get it fixed then I guess I can't rp here anymore. /sadness/

You might have "The Black Screen of Death." Here's the wiki page on it: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Screen_of_Death

There are also a few sites that suggest how to fix it.

1) Restart your PC

2) Logon and wait for the black screen to appear

3) Make sure your PC should be able to connect to the internet (black screen does not appear to affect this)

4) Press the CTRL, ALT and DEL keys simultaneously

5) When prompted, Click Start Task Manager

6) In Task Manager Click on the Application Tab

7) Next Click New Task

8) Now enter the command:

"C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" "http://info.prevx.com/download.asp?GRAB=BLACKSCREENFIX"

Note this command assumes that you are using internet explorer as your browser, if not substitute your browser path and file details for those of iexplore.exe or use the Browser option of Task manager to locate it.

9) Click OK and your browser should start up and begin the download process

10) When prompted for the download Click run, the black screen fix program will download and run to automatically fix the issue.

11) Now restart your PC and the black screen problem will hopefully be gone.

I tried clicking CTRL, ALT, and delete simultaneously. But it just returned to the black screen. There is no Start Task Manager...

As a general sweep this sounds like a motherboard issue, given your past sound issue. This is a hardware issue. There is no magic fix. If you can even save it at all you need to get replacement parts and someone who knows what they are doing. Chances are you'll need a new laptop.

What are you running? Windows 7? Vista? And can you move around your cursor on the black screen?

Try hitting F8 repeatedly when you restart it, not just once. Maybe you'll be able to reach safe mode then.

Idk what I'm supposed to do. I want to continue rping here since this seems to be the only thing that makes me happy. But Idk if I can continue to do that without a computer.

It's a little long, but it might have something there of worth.

You can try googling "windows xp black screen of death blinking cursor," which is what I did. Maybe after a bit of browsing, you'll find a solution that actually works.

I actually already tried doing what that site suggested, but it didn't work... It just returns to the black screen and blinking cursor. Ugh! Thanks anyway. I am starting to give up though.

I actually tried many things prior to coming on here. I was really hoping to fix it on my own.
I tried hitting F8 repeatedly. Hell, I even tried holding F8 because this one person online recommended doing so if tapping continously does not work. My computer is just being stupid, but I do not think it is a hardware problem. If it was then it wouldn't even have the blinking cursor.

I had that problem actually. Had to replace the hardware in side it, it cost me around $190. Id suggest saving up and just upgrading to a better computer later.
