I've Just Seen a Face, But I've Forgotten the Time or Place

Barbara continued searching, trying everything she hadn't tried yet. When "Felicity" turned into a flaming torch, Barbara barely blinked. She shut the laptop in front of her and crossed her arms over it. What Afterburn said made sense, but she couldn't fathom why Anne would do that. Take a random stranger's pain and make it her own? Well, that said a lot for the girl. It also seemed that Felicity was a stranger to acts of kindness as well. When she finished speaking, Barbara set the laptop aside and stood.
"If Hephaestus is willing to go to these lengths to keep you quiet, they must be afraid that you do still have those memories, buried as deep as they are. I've never seen such security. They're worried that you'll reveal something about them to the public, and they're right to be afraid. The only thing is, I don't believe they upload any of their records to a database of sorts. That means, they must have hard copies of everything wherever they're based." Turning with a kind look to Miyako, Barbara smiled sadly. "I'm afraid I've been on their list for a long time now. Nothing I could do now would endanger my any more or less."
Alphy was standing now, and Babs watched him carefully. She knew he and Anne had been friends, but now it was apparent that they were much more. What he said next made Babs' jaw drop. The Alphy she knew would have never resulted to such a thing. Things like this changed people, though. Changed people for the worse, usually. Unfortunately, Alphy was willing to do things that she could not stand by and watch. What Alphy told her in secret through a mental connection was less shocking. That kind of thing she could deal with. Anne was a nice girl, and knowing that she was a teleporter just made Barbara want to help her more. perhaps once Anne recovered, she could talk some sense into their mutual friend.
"Alphy." She stuffed her laptop in her bag before hastily following him out the door. "You don't want to do this. Anne wouldn't want you to do this. There are other ways. Justice and revenge are completely different. We can take them down, but we need to do it the right way." Babs put a hand on his shoulder and tried to get him to face her. "You will be putting yourself and your family in even more danger this way. We can do this, together, the right way. Trust me, Alphy."
