Alphy helped her maneuver him around the corner, and she laughed. "Pick up some drifting skills, have you?" It was a short trip down the hallway and to the elevator. She blushed when he accused her of stalking him. "No, I haven't been outside your window. Your grandfather did have to file for a permit with the city, and in the file were blueprints." With a shrug of her shoulder, she turned him around in the elevator and pushed the button. While the antique doors closed, she leaned back against the opposite wall.
"What your grandfather didn't include were the secret passages throughout the house. I found those by accident. Have you explored them all yet?" She gave him a conspiratorial smirk, hoping that there were one or two he didn't know about. Those may have to wait until he could walk on his own again, though.
A dopey grin crossed Alphy's face as she denied the stalking accusations. The grin widened as she mentioned the secret passages. She'd set herself up for this one, but he was still impressed that she found the records for the house somewhere. Looking up at her, he joked, "Oh, but how would you have found the passages, if you hadn't been in my house, probably while stalking me. How do you explain that, Babs?" The elevator came to a stop as he winked and rolled himself forward a little to get her to push him.
"By the way," Alphy stretched in the chair, "where are we going to go tonight? Do I need to dress appropriately?"
Barbara realized that she wasn't going to be able to move this conversation around the elephant. "Okay, fine. I wasn't stalking you, per se, but I did kind of break into your house." She blushed as she grabbed the handles of Alphy's chair and pushed him out of the elevator. "I wanted to see the library again, so sue me. Anyways, on my third time back, I pulled a random book from the shelf, and it happened to trigger a door to open. The Sherlock Holmes in me awakened, and I went inside. I found what I assumed to be your grandfather's desk, and in snooping, I found the real blueprints to the house in one of the locked drawers. I took them home and compared them to the real blueprints and copied them. They're back where they were, though, I promise." Giving him a shy smile, she wheeled him down the hall, and through another doorway to the massive garage.
There were several vehicles there, including the Maserati, but also some more inconspicuous vehicles. "Actually, we're going out of town." With a conspiratorial wink, she maneuvered him through the cars, and finally to the Maserati. She opened the door for him and leaned against the car. "Can you get yourself into the seat, or do I have to pick you up?"
"Suuuuuuuuuuuuuuure," Alphy smirked and kept teasing, "maybe you were after my money! After all, I hear Batman and Catwoman have a thing." He winked and looked up at her. Of course, Barbara wouldn't do something like that. With a reassuring smile, he pulled her hand away from the grip on the chair and squeezed it, "You just had to ask, silly. I gave you a key for a reason." Sighing, he let her hand go and drooped back into the chair. The elevator doors opened, and he rolled along for the ride.
As Barbara asked her question, Alphy's face turned scarlet. It took a lot of courage to swallow his pride, but he looked up pleadingly, "Y-you might want to pick me up. I'm a bit b-broken..." Those memories of how stupid he was surged with a vengeance. Either way, he tried to push out of the chair, but started to fall.
Barbara was momentarily hurt as Alphy accused her of wanting to take his money, but the feeling vanished as he smiled to show her that he was kidding. She smiled as he told her that all she would have had to done was ask, and took her hand in his. "Well, I figured I'd be in and out of there quickly, and didn't want to bother you. After I found the room, though, I did feel guilty about it, and didn't want you to be mad at me for not asking." He dropped her hand and it immediately went to steady his chair as he started to get up, despite having just told her that he needed help.
She was going to say something about his stubbornness until he started to fall. Quickly, Babs caught him before he went too far and crashed into the ground, or worse, the car. Maneuvering him so that he had his arm around her neck, she planted her feet and helped him in. "You are crazy, you know that?" She smirked as they both worked to get him seated, albeit the difficulty. Finally safely seated, Babs smiled up at him from beneath his arm, having lowered herself so that she could help him. Their faces were very close, and Barbara froze as her heart skipped a beat at the proximity.
A moment of 'why did I just do that' played through Alphy's mind as he fell, but Barbara caught him. Alpy looked up to her gratefully and smirked back at her as she insulted him, "I know I'm crazy, but what does that say about you 'miss jumps-off-rooftops'?" Making his way to the car, he did what he could to help Babs with the burden. After he was safely inside, he looked over to Babs, then halted.
She was close, so close that he could feel her broken breathing on his skin, Alphy froze as so many thoughts went through his mind. He knew what he wanted, but he didn't want Babs to... he accidentally moved closer in a motion that was to get his seat belt, making their lips touch. He acted coy and drew back, "S-Sorry!!!"
Their faces were so close, and Barbara was again at a loss for words, or even coherent thoughts, for once in her life. Alphy moved to grab his seatbelt and their lips contacted, albeit briefly. At the touch, Babs finally regained control of her body, and pulled back, ducking out from under his arm. "Sorry." She mumbled as her face flamed, and darted around the car.
When she had started it up and backed out of the garage, the rain had stopped. "Of course it would quit now that I don't have to go trudging around in it." She growled to herself, and pushed on the gas pedal probably a little too much. The inertia forced her back in her seat, and she smiled as she zoomed in and out of traffic, only running a couple of stoplights. She had made sure that no cars were coming, of course. Plus, it was hilarious to see Alphy cringe like he was going to die any second each time.
And, Alphonse DID think she were going to crash the Maserati. What he was more concerned about was having to report Batgirl for stealing his car to avoid the tickets, I'm sure she'd understand. As the car sped towards through the city, Alphy pleaded, "BE CAREFUL AND STOP DRIVING LIKE A BAT OUT OF HECK!"
Finally, as the traffic gave way, he looked over at her with a confused look. She'd never told him where they were going, so he pensively pondered, "Where are we going?" He couldn't deduce information, except they were headed away from Jump, but EVERYTHING was away from Jump.
Barbara laughed, a carefree musical sound, as Alphy flipped out beside her at her driving. When he made the bat comment, she just looked over and hiked a brow. "I believe the word is 'hell', and if you believe Gotham is close enough, I'll gladly take that." Smiling, she turned her attention back to the road.
They drove in relative silence, once and a while with Alphy asking where they were going, but she just smiled and ignored him. With the speed of the maserati, the trip was a lot shorter than she had expected. Then again, there weren't any cops around, which Babs was very grateful for.
After what seemed like a very long time, Barbara pulled into a secluded road by the coast and followed it for quite a ways. The bumps of the seldom-used road were hard on the car, but she kept going, albeit slowly for Alphy's sake. When they finally came to an opening, she put the car in park and shut it off. Before them stretched the ocean, without a tourist-crowded beach hindering the view. There wasn't really a beach at all, the land just kind of gave way to a cliff not far from them, dropping off rather suddenly. "I come here to be alone, and to think." Her voice wasn't more than a whisper as she crossed her arms over the steering wheel and looked out.
As the silence fell again, Alphy sat listening to the roaring engine as Barbara took the turns quickly. She took her hint and shut his eyes, waiting for her to stop. Then, she did. He didn't know what to expect when he opened his eyes. It was a beautiful sight that stretched to the horizon, and Barbara took the time to share it with him. With a smile, he looked over and took her hand.
"You're not alone," Alphy smiled as he leaned closer to her, suddenly just letting himself go, "and we're both thinking, Babs." His face regained an unnatural reddish color as he leaned closer. The thought of their brief kiss, and how romantic the scene was right now, drove him to plunge in. Slowly, his good hand reached around the back of Barbara's head as he attempted to place a kiss on her lips...
Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Alphy moving closer, and she leaned back, uncrossing her arms from atop the steering wheel. He took the chance and took her hand. Her heart leaped, and she swallowed nervously. "I know, but I wanted to share this place with you. What do you think I've been thinking about here lately?" She gave him a shy smile, which faded as he came closer. As his hand snaked around the back of her head, she practically melted in his arms as she closed the last distance between them, meeting his lips with her own.
As Barbara crumpled in his arms, Alphy did his best to steady the embrace while enjoying the moment of passion. His good hand pulled Barbara across the car into his lap, carefully. From there, he smiled and just held her close to his chest. "This is good, isn't it?" He mumbled as he rocked back and forth. Despite his worry, he was smiling. Slowly, he looked back at Barbara and wondered if she really liked him, or if he had accidentally played a trick on her. Had he accidentally used his powers? Was this a lie because this is what he wanted? Suddenly, he flopped back against the seat and put his hand over his face, "I...did I make you do this?" A sob exited the side of his mouth as he turned to try and hide his face.
As the kiss ended, Barbara didn't want to say anything, didn't want to ruin the moment. This had all been real, right? She wasn't dreaming? They sat there in silence, Babs curled up on his lap albeit kind of awkwardly, as it was a small car, and they had quite the muscle density between the two of them.
When Alphy broke the silence, she turned her head to look up at him. Make her do this? With a huff, Babs moved off his lap and back over to the driver's seat, crossing her arms over her chest. "Really? Do you really think that little of me? I know when you're inside my head. That wasn't you." Knowing he couldn't exactly follow her, she opened the door and exited the car, closing the door back with a little more force than necessary.
If he tried to follow her, he would just hurt himself, which gave Barbara a sick kind of satisfaction. After all of this, all of what they've been through, and he thought he forced himself on her? Maybe this was too early. Too close to Catastor's death, both of their wounds too fresh. She thought about this as she took a seat on the hood of the car, not caring if Alphy yelled at her for it or not. Maybe this was a mistake, bringing him out here. This had been her spot, her secret place to come and think, and now when she tried to share it with someone, the peace was ruined.
Every time Alphy opened his mouth, he seemed to make a mistake. Even now, as he reached after her, he wondered if his words, "N-No I was...I don't think little of..." were a mistake. Now, she was somewhere he shouldn't be able to follow. The tears cleared as he realized his mistake, and then only worry cascaded through his mind. Then, a funny, hopeful thought passed aimlessly through his mind, Maybe it's a test... maybe I should... Alphy looked over at the door handle and took a determined breath as he tugged on it; it swung open noiselessly as he swept his legs out of the car. Exhaling, he put his good foot on the ground and used his good hand and arm to push out of the car.
Before Barbara could stop him, he slid along the side of the car, grunting as he hopped on one leg, and failed at smoothly sliding down next to her. With an exhausted pant, he joked, "I'm so out of shape." Slowly, he looked over at her and slid his hand next to hers, "I'm sorry Babs, I didn't mean that. I've just been having so many... doubts lately. I was happy, I'm glad that you were happy too and... since we're here can we make it a date? It is a tad... romantic?" With that he tried to intertwine their fingers. Sometimes, he recalled something Sherlock Holmes said about women being a mystery to him. It echoed now.
Barbara was busy stewing, so she didn't realize Alphy had gotten out of the car until he was right beside her. "God, Alphy, do you ever want to walk again?" She was overcome with concern as she made sure he wasn't putting any pressure on his bad leg. Her head shook back and forth as she helped him pull himself backwards so that he wasn't actually standing anymore. "You're a glutton for pain, aren't you?" She allowed herself a small, sad smile as she resumed her place beside him.
When he tried to hold her hand, she reluctantly gave it to him. "I... I don't know about a date. I thought we were taking it easy?" She raised an eyebrow at him and pulled the remnants of the necklace from her pocket. "I'm sorry I snapped. After you gave me this thing, I kind of found a sort of... signature when you spoke to me telepathically or shielded yourself from me." Shrugging, she placed it back and smiled at him. "So I would kick your ass if you made me do anything, whether I wanted to do it anyways or not."

The roleplay takes place after the series end of the original Teen Titans animated show, but does not include the movie Trouble in Tokyo. Since then Robin has been on something of a recruiting spree, and many new young heroes have found themselves a home in Jump City as well as Titan Tower.
