"I can walk," Alphy replied as Barbara pushed him back onto the hood, "and I wasn't hurting myself." A caustic smirk came up as he quipped, "I should be able to recover if I don't take anymore Batgirls to the knee." She was right about having suffered a lot of pain, but he didn't like pain at all. No one in his family liked pain, mainly because it was their tradition to not use any painkillers due to the fear of addiction. No morphine, even in surgery.
As she spoke, he recoiled and pulled his hand away apologetically, "S-sorry, I got caught in the heat of the moment." Swinging his arm from side to side and watching as Barbara pulled the necklace out, he nodded understandingly. "I... thought we were too but... I really just want it all to be the way it was before all of this. You know, I want it to be like when I took you out to dinner, I want you to smile and kick some people around while I'm injured..." He leaned back against the hood and watched as the stars started coming out.
Barbara rolled her eyes at Alphy's smart comment, playfully elbowing him before laying down beside him. "You better be careful, then, and not piss her off." The stars were starting to come out, another reason she liked coming here. It was far enough from civilization that the city lights didn't chase them away. Born and raised in Gotham, she hadn't really seen too many stars. It was very different to see the millions out here.
"I can kick you around if you'd like." She turned and smirked at him before looking back up as more stars started waking up. Her smile faded, though, and she sighed. "I'll try, okay? I'm sorry, I can't just push the 'reset' button and go on. It's hard."
"I'll try not to, I like her." Alphy winked and stared at the stars. It was hard to remember that each one of those specks of light were actually giant balls of plasma in a fusion reaction. In fact, it didn't even cross his mind, all he noticed was the beauty of it, and the girl next to him. Her words were expected, and he nodded in understanding.
As he thought of a response, Alphy edged closer and turned so she could see the sincerity in his eyes. Instead, he looked into those deep, beautiful gems of hers. A lump caught in his throat as he spoke, "I-It..." He paused and tried again to voice his apology and simultaneous observation, "It's hard, and I hadn't meant to just jump back into things. If neither of us try, do you think it'll go back to normal eventually?" Sighing, he looked back up at the stars, "You can't make something out of nothing, can you Babs? I wish so."
Barbara folded her hands behind her head and pulled up knee, resting the foot on the hood. She was glad Alphy wasn't like some guys, who yelled at you if you leaned against the car or something. At least he would lay here with her. When he spoke of not doing anything, she smiled. "I think that's exactly what needs to be done. No trying, just doing." Taking a leap, she grabbed his hand again as she looked back up at the sky. The sun was slowly disappearing over the horizon, and more stars twinkled into view.
As Barbara grabbed his hand, Alphy squeezed it reassuringly and smiled over at her; it was perfect. His eyes fluttered shut and he smile as all the stars came out. He muttered quietly, "Beautiful..." and rolled over to place his arm over Barbara's shoulder. Smiling as he leaned his head on her shoulder, he quipped "Just like you." Then, slowly tilting towards her neck, Alphy placed a kiss on her cheek and smiled as he looked up, "Do, there is no try, Mmmmhmmm."
After a while, he wondered whether or not he should be getting home, and whether or not the city needed Batgirl and Penumbra.
Alphy put his arm around her, and she gladly let him, leaning her head against his chest as they watched the rest of the stars come out. She rolled her eyes at his Star Wars joke, and smiled. He kissed her cheek, and she turned to look up at him. "Patience you must have, my young padawan." She whispered, not really caring if he heard her or not as she basked in the moment.
After a while, the sky was black and peppered with more stars than Barbara had ever seen. She lazily sat up and stretched, looking at the time on her phone. "I think we can take one night off, you think? I mean, there should be enough kids running around in costumes to keep the peace for one night."
In response to Barbara's kiss, Alphy smiled and squeezed her closer to him. She could probably hear his heart beating a mile a minute as she laid oh so close to his chest. Alphy heard Barbara's quip and slowly pet her hair. "We're such dorks," he spoke as a smirk crossed his face, "since we're quoting Star Wars and cuddling under the stars..." Of course, that didn't mean Alphy didn't enjoy this peaceful scene. It was a small measure of peace in his otherwise churning world. That world drove him to attempted suicide.
Although the question wasn't unexpected, what came out of Alphys mouth was. "Yeah," he spoke quietly, "so we can spend the night together. Wouldn't that be nice? My bed is b-" He stopped. Slowly, he felt his cheeks burning with color as he realized what it sounded like, but he recovered by asking, "Do you want to cuddle at home?"
"Patience." She sighed again, shaking her head. Yes, she wanted to jump right back into things, but honestly, she had been hurt. All she wanted to do was take the night off, and maybe sit around and watch movies with her friend. "No bed. Don't you have an enormous movie-theater-like room in that mansion of yours?" Barbara hopped up and without waiting for him to object, picked Alphy up, careful with his leg. "If you're as big of a dork as I think you are, you have Star Wars or Lord of the Rings extended editions on blu-ray?" Smiling, she carefully maneuvered him around to the side of the car, and set him gingerly back into his seat.
"Lord of the Rings, all at once, no stopping." Alphy smirked and buckled in, having already been moved into the car, before looking over to Babs. Her sad look reminded him that he had hurt her, and he nodded, "We can watch in the living room, on the couch. You know, it's next to the kitchen?"
He sighed and looked up at the roof of the car before shutting his eyes and dozing off a little bit. It would be a long...long 18 hour stretch of movies.

The roleplay takes place after the series end of the original Teen Titans animated show, but does not include the movie Trouble in Tokyo. Since then Robin has been on something of a recruiting spree, and many new young heroes have found themselves a home in Jump City as well as Titan Tower.
