With Barely a Breath

About a week had passed since Vincent had his encounter with Kaie. Whenever he was not busy working on Kaie's new shield, his own weapons, looking around the city, or focusing his magic power, Vincent had difficulty keeping his mind off of the giantess. Even his nights had become much more comfortable as he could actually sleep. Well, he slept longer than he normally could, but it was better than nothing. Every day Vincent had waited for his crystal to shine with a message from Kaie.

Finally the crystal shone one day, and Vincent was excited to meet up with Kaie at the beach. At least now he knew where the beach was, and this time he would be going during the day. He had sent her a message back telling her he would meet her there in the morning. Vincent was too excited to really focus on anything after that. Fortunately he remembered that he would need to find proper attire for the beach. So he rummaged through some magazines he found in the common room. Some of those magazines he immediately put away, but after those few traumatizing minutes he found something he could wear. A little bit of magic, and he had the deep blue swimming trunks set out for the day.

Vincent had woken up fairly early that day as he was excited for the meeting. There was a lot of time until he was supposed to head out since the sun had not even rose, so Vincent went to work on her shield. He had only managed to form the core part of the shield, a rather large orb. Vincent had yet to infuse it with magic to enforce it even more, and that would come later once he had all the parts. Time went by fast enough as he worked on smoothing out the core. The crystal let out a shine to let him know the time had come.

He changed into the swimming trunks and then vanished from his room only to appear on the beach side. Vincent had to blink a few times to let his eyes adjust to the bright sunlight. The sand was warm against his bare feet, and he smell the ocean water. There were some people out on the beach, but they were down quite a ways. Kaie had chosen some part of the beach that was farther away, and Vincent could see why. They did not need people staring at them since she was a giant.

Now Vincent was left staring at the water before him. All this time he had been excited about meeting up with Kaie he had completely forgotten about the fact he could not swim. Awesome. Well, there was nothing he could do about it now except wait for Kaie to show up.

[Gaunt]

It was a week before Kaie got permission to go out on her own time again. Ma had been pretty mad about her late stay at the tower, and had suspected she was hiding something. But after a weak of pleading, begging, and the biggest puppy eyes in the history of the world, Kaie convinced her to allow some time out. The giant immediately jumped on the opportunity, sending Vincent a message to meet her at the beach. She couldn't get over how cool these magic crystal pagers were.

The big day didn't go quite as planned. Kaie woke up a few minutes late, hastily showering and getting ready for her beach trip. She waved goodbye to Ma before rushing out the door, making a beeline for the beach. By the time she got there, Vincent was already there, looking mighty fine in his swim trunks. She tried not to get too obvious as she checked him out. He was in good shape, that was for certain. "Heya Vincent! Sorry I kept ye waitin."

Kaie set her towel down near him, kicking off her sandals. Her Hawaiian shirt was the first to go, revealing the bright blue bikini top under it. She set it down on the towel, where it was soon joined by her shorts. The giantess stretched out, enjoying the sunlight. "Ye been here before?" she asked, looking down at Vincent.

How was he going to deal with the fact the he could not swim? Could he teach himself how to do so before Kaie showed up? No. There was no way he could learn something so quickly since she would be showing up in a matter of minutes. Vincent had not even practiced on absorbing knowledge magically, so he could not do that either. Great. This was going to be embarrassing to tell Kaie that he could not swim and had agreed to come to the beach. Perfect.

And then Kaie showed up. A while later than planned, but Vincent had not been paying attention as he had a dilemma on his hands. Of course all those concerns vanished the moment he turned around and laid eyes on Kaie. For some reason she appeared bigger now that they were outside. The lighting in his room did not do her any justice either.

"It's all good."

Vincent barely managed to say that when Kaie suddenly took off her shirt. That flush returned to his cheeks as he saw what she was wearing underneath, and the flush only darkened as she removed her shorts as well. On top of it all, Kaie stretched afterwards. The awkward feeling returned tenfold as he looked at her. Her words were the only thing that managed to snap him out and bring him back to reality.

"Oh... um... yeah. I came here at night once, but this is different," Vincent said as he turned around looked out over the waters. The flush was only getting worse as he could not get the image of Kaie out of his head. Without even thinking, he simply ran forward and dove into the cold water. Immediately his body was cooled down and he rose up to the surface and floated on his back. He was only in the shallow water for now. Any deeper and he would have problems.

[Gaunt]

Kaie giggled a bit as Vincent turned deep red. She hadn't thought about that side of things. She'd set this up for the chance to see him with his shirt off, it hadn't occurred to her that in his time they probably didn't wear such adventurous swimsuits. This was probably the most skin he'd ever seen. Or the largest percentage of skin, at least. Even fully clothed, Kaie showed more inches of skin than most people.

"Yeah, the water's better in the day. Gets too cold at night." Before she even finished speaking, Vincent was off like a shot. Kaie grinned as he dove into the water. Was he trying to hide something? The magical boy floated up on his back, and Kaie went running after him. "Wait up, Vincent!" Small clouds of sand were kicked up as she jogged towards the water.

Kaie slowly waded into the water, sitting down near where Vincent was floating. "Ye doin aright there?" She asked with a smile, looking him over. He was still blushing pretty badly, but he didn't seem to be melting now. That was an improvement, at least. She looked him over, trying to scope him out as subtly as she could and hoping he was too distracted to notice.

It was a good thing Vincent was in the water or else his heart beat would have sky rocketed if he watched her run towards the water. The cool waters cooled down his body so he was relatively back to normal by the time Kaie was in the water. Vincent had to wonder how deep in the water she had to go to be completely submerged, and he knew he could not go out that far since he could not swim. He just wanted to make sure she had just as much fun as he did.

"Yeah... I was just surprised...," Vincent said with a slight grin as he looked up at her. As long as he was not moving, he could keep the floating going on. This was peaceful enough so he would not have to worry about swimming just yet. The only problem with floating is that he had no control of where he was going, and he realized way too late what was about to happen.

The top of Vincent's head bumped against something, and that something just happened to Kaie's hip. All Vincent could do was just look up at Kaie with the biggest smile ever. For some reason he did not blush as he was getting used to being around her. Deep inside he was all awkward, but at least he was controlling it on the outside.

"Hey there...," Vincent said innocently as he kept looking up at her.

[Gaunt]

Kaie smiled down at him. "Yeah, I forgot about the whole culture shock thing, sorry." He seemed to be taking it in stride now. That was good. His flustered reactions were adorable, but she didn't want to make him too uncomfortable. Kaie looked out over the ocean, admiring the view. "Is beautiful out here."

Her sightseeing was interrupted by something bumping into her hip. She looked down, and her face flushed a bit as she saw what had happened. That was the second time Vincent's head had gotten close to dangerous territory. He wasn't blushing this time, and had a huge smile on his face. Kaie grinned, wondering if she was bringing out his frisky side. The giant waved down at him. "Hey yourself."

"Say, the ocean's pretty calm today. Wanna go a little deeper?" She didn't really mind staying here and ogling Vincent, but there was really no way for her to entertain herself for long like that without being creepy. She figured maybe a little floating could clear her head too.

Vincent was relatively calm just floating there next to Kaie. He had no problem just staying like that since it was oddly relaxing. They had come to the beach though, and he doubted Kaie was having as much as he was since she was just sitting there. Kaie probably wanted to actually swim, and that was confirmed when she asked about going in deeper into the water.

"Well... I would.... but I don't know how to swim...," Vincent said as he looked away from her. She was still in his vision, but he was looking out across the water as well. It was a long way out there for Kaie to relatively swim comfortably. Vincent was not actually afraid of going out there since he could always use his energy if it came down to it, but that would kind of take the fun out of it all. Then again, he would be with Kaie, so he figured he would be safe.

"But I guess I'll be fine with you out there. I'll have to hold onto you though on the way out there...," Vincent said as he looked back at her. This time he did flush a bit since Kaie was wearing little. Contact would be much different than last time.

[Gaunt]

"Oh, we gotta teach ya sometime, it's fun!" She wondered if the Titans had a pool big enough for her to teach him in. The tower was huge, it probably had something like that hidden away. She would have to ask Cy when she was there next, he knew everything about the tower. And everything in general, really. Even if they didn't have one, he could probably set one up for them.

Vincent seemed to get his courage up, agreeing to go out. Kaie grinned, nodding at him. "Yep! I won't let nothin happen to ya!" This was gonna be fun. She was already having some interesting thoughts about Vincent clinging to her like a damsel in distress. From his blush, he seemed to be thinking similar things.

Kaie smiled, scooting a little further out until she could float. Once she was a few feet deep, she slowly leaned back and started floating. The chill made her tense up for a second, but she got used to it fast enough. Kaie lifted her head, looking over to Vincent. She was still below chest depth for him. "Come on out! Ye can use me as a raft if ye want." She gave him a wink, beckoning with one hand.

"That'd be nice," Vincent agreed to her teaching him. It was something he needed to learn anyways. Just not today. And it essentially gave the more plans for a later date. Vincent had something else to look forward to now, but for now he would focus on today. Not that that was a difficult thing to do. Kaie was not something he could not think about at the moment.

Vincent pushed himself up and stood in the water as Kaie moved out further into the water. The water was deep enough for Kaie to float as well, and Vincent could not help but look at her more. He had been the most innocent guy ever, but ever since that nap with Kaie it was as if Vincent's inner male had been awakened. He was not exactly sure how to feel about this, so he focused on just having fun.

"Coming!" Vincent called out as he made his way towards her. The water became deeper and deeper, but at least he was already used to the cool temperature. He made it over to Kaie's side and simply stood as he was not sure what to do next. "Um.... I'm not exactly sure how.....," he said and was unable to actually say he was not sure where to put his hands.

Kaie noticed Vincent checking her out. She grinned at him, giving him another wink. This beach trip was going even better than planned. She was checking him out too, trying to be subtle about it. Well, as subtle as a giant could be.

Kaie was having a lot of fun. It was pretty relaxing, floating like this, and the company was great. Vincent was such a gentleman, so nervous about everything. It was pretty cute. Kaie patted her belly, giving him an encouraging smile. "Just hop on up!" Her intentions weren't entirely honorable. She remembered the contact from last week, and was pretty hype about getting more of it. Especially considering their attire, that added an extra layer of awesome.

Thinking about it, Kaie wondered how Ma would react if she could see them now. In their swimsuits, getting all touchy, she would be furious. Kaie smiled at the thought. This was awesome already, doing something that would annoy Ma was just gravy.

So he was just supposed to hop on? Really? Vincent was not sure about that since her stomach was completely bare. Last time he really did not have any choice for them to sleep, but this was way different. Not only was her stomach bare, but she was in a bikini of all things. It would be impossible to not look at certain parts of Kaie if he was up there, but he did not have a choice again.

"Alright then...," Vincent said as he looked up at her. His hands were wet so it would be too slippery to climb up. Vincent floated up as a silver aura outlined him and he moved up above Kaie. Another blush formed as he looked down at her. The view was very different since she was floating on her back. He floated down onto her stomach after a few seconds so it was not like he was staring down at her like a creep or something.

Her skin was just as soft as he remembered as he sat down on her stomach. Vincent certainly enjoyed the many views he had as he sat there. However, he laid back on her stomach so his feet were dangling in the water. This was very relaxing, and he could forget about the fact he was on Kaie somewhat as he watched the clouds.

"So how was your week?" Vincent asked her. He was curious as to how her week had been and it solved the silence problem.

[Gaunt]

"Wow that is cool." Kaie watched, eyes wide, as Vincent floated into the air. She was still amazed by his magic. Flying was hands-down the most awesome power, and no matter how many times she saw it it would never get old. It was the kind of thing normal people could only dream about. Hell, it was the kind of thing most supers still dreamed about.

Once again, Kaie took notice of Vincent checking her out. She returned the favor. His hovering gave her an excellent view, and that silver light added another layer of coolness to him. She was almost disappointed when he came back down, but the contact more than made up for it. Kaie laid back in the water, relaxing and floating while Vincent gave his feet a dip. There was a lot of skin contact, but Kaie didn't mind. Quite the opposite, really.

"Pretty good, I think. Got us a new recruit. Ye met Twitch yet?" She tilted her head slightly forward to look at him, but couldn't really get a good view. "Super reflexes, I helped him stop a robbery. What about you, how were your week?"

As he lay on Kaie's stomach, Vincent was not exactly sure where to put his hands. There was her chest to his left, and then her waist to his right. Not exactly places his hands should be. So he simply placed them on his own stomach. It was still relaxing there, and they were bound to get a good tan. The thought of Kaie having a tan the shape of Vincent never even crossed his mind.

"Twitch? Nope. Haven't met him," Vincent said as he mulled over what had happened over the week. "It would probably help if I actually spent more time with the others. There's just a lot to see," Vincent said to explain why he had not met the new guy yet.

"Nothing too exciting like stopping a robbery. Looked through more of the stores downtown. Found some cake at a shop, and it is certainly amazing. We might have to have some of that later today. Um... I managed to sleep somewhat, and I made a couple of new swords for practice. I'm almost finished on the core for your shield as well. Gotta smooth it out before I start working on the rest of the pieces," Vincent rambled on about everything.

It had been productive somewhat for Vincent. He was still trying to decide if he was going to actually join the team, but he wanted to give it a try with Kaie first. Patrol with her would be easier than with someone else he barely knew.

[Gaunt]

Vincent was laying pretty still, being a perfect gentleman about the whole thing. Kaie was almost disappointed. After all the friskiness he'd shown before, she was expecting something. Still, he was probably getting a nice tan. The thought of a well-tanned Vincent brought a smile to her face.

"Yeah, hangin out with the others is fun. I get what you mean, though. It took me a while to adjust once I got here, and I were already from a big city." Dublin had been pretty different from Jump City. Back in her hometown, superheroes weren't really a big deal. They were out there, but the city didn't have many supers and not a lot of attention was paid to them. In Jump City, they were practically a tourist attraction.

Kaie was happy to hear that Vincent was sleeping well. She'd been worried when she heard about his sleep habits the week before. "Glad yer doin better. I were worried I was gonna have to move into the Tower and be yer mattress full-time." She giggled at the thought. It had been pretty cozy, using Vincent as a teddy bear. She wouldn't mind doing it again.

So Kaie was not from around here? Vincent would have to ask her more about that when she was in a position to actually show him where she was from. Now that he thought about it, Kaie did speak a little bit different than the others. Of course it made sense for her to be from somewhere else. It was not like everyone could be from this city. Now that was just a silly thought.

"I wouldn't mind if you did...," Vincent said about her moving into the Tower. He had no idea if it would be allowed or not, but he had really enjoyed that nap with her. Not only had it been calming more than any other sleep he had, but it had been very comfortable. It had probably been for the best he had kept to himself mainly over the week. Vincent had no idea but telling others he had slept with Kaie would give them the completely wrong impression, but it was only a matter of time before that little fact slipped out.

Just thinking about the nap they had taken together made that awkward sensation well up inside of Vincent once more. Without even thinking of what he was doing, he turned and laid on his stomach. His face was pressed against her as he closed his eyes and took in a deep breath. Vincent simply let himself be engulfed by her warmth and did not say anything.
