Danny flew towards the mountain as quickly as his little hummingbird wings would carry him. He dared not look back at the cornucopia out of the fear of how badly the flood had damaged everything. In fact, he wouldn’t have been too surprised if a… BOOM! Danny stopped mid-flight and hovered there a few moments with Ink still safe in his arms as the sound of yet another cannon had gone off. “No,” he whispered aloud. He may not have known who the Games’ latest unlucky victim was, but he knew one thing. It was a fellow Teen Titan, one of their teammates and that’s all that really mattered to him. So whoever it was it was still sad.
Sniffling he landed somewhere in the middle of the mountain. He just felt too exhausted and depressed to go any further though he really hoped he could have. Speedy was counting on him after all to make it to the very top and keep Ink safe from harm. Then a thought occurred to him as he set Ink down, a terrible thought. That cannon he heard only moments ago, what if it was Speedy or Raven? What if one of them didn’t make it? Danny unlike Ink did not look back so he had no idea that the duo had been given a flotation device to save them. Danny was so caught up in his own fears and worries that he almost didn’t hear Ink.
He whipped around and looked at her face full of worry. “Kaie a…a cannon had just gone off. What if…what if it was Speedy’s or Raven’s? What if they drowned back there? Oh, I knew I should have left them! It’ll be all my fault if they drowned,” he said, freaking out. His heart pounded and his breathing intensified.
Then they had to face another problem that they both had to take into consideration. “And even if it wasn’t one of them I’m…I do not think I can fly right now. The flight here took a lot out of me. I’m sorry Kaie. I…failed. I’m just so tired right now. Can’t even hover, see?” he informed her as he struggled to get back up into the air only to fall into the dirt. He started coughing up dirt as he climbed back to his feet. Turning back to Ink he dusted himself off. “I apologize. I am afraid all we can really do right now is rest. Though I wish I could be stronger like Grizzly then I could protect you better…” he whispered.
Suddenly feeling sleepy the hummingbird boy walked over to a tree and sat down, leaning up against its trunk. Sitting there he began yawning. “Damn my narcolepsy…” Poor Danny hadn’t gotten to take any of his narcolepsy meds since his abduction.
BOOM! Another cannon. Try not to think about it, Danny told himself as though such thoughts would actually help. He frowned at Ink fearing the cannons belonged to their allies. He doubted they belonged to Robin and Batgirl. They wouldn’t be that lucky. But wait why was he thinking this? Such bad thoughts concerning his friends should be nowhere near his mind. Then again Robin did kill Grizzly, Grizzly died while trying to protect them.
Suddenly Danny made a gasping noise and his pupils seemed to grow in size. He started convulsing and drool began to seep out of his mouth. And then just like that he was out like a light. But no cannon went off. Danny didn’t mean to, but was just so tired. His narcoleptic attack had such great timing though. The hummingbird boy just hoped Ink would not assume him dead and leave him there.
ooc: Hope you do not mind him falling asleep Zin, but like I said before he suffers from Narcolepsy, so it was inevitable... But let me know if I should change it.
