Raven winced at Iris's implication, but stood silent at the girl worked to turn the statue to wood. Once that was done, she picked it up telekinetically and stowed in the shadows under a tree, where it wasn't likely to be found by a guard, wasn't likely to give them away.
"You won't get in my way," Raven said, dusting her hands on her hip. "Just.... stay close. Alright? Let's go then." She raised her arms, her cape billowing out behind her in a rush of power, and closed her soul-self wings over the both of them once again, disappearing from their existence on earth for the few seconds it took her to locate the team in the hallways below.
Opening her wings, she let Iris go inside the building, and came back to herself as well, glancing around, expecting to find Robin leading the team or fighting a guard.
Instead she found him writhing on the ground in pain.
Her eyes flashed in alarm as she took in the scene. "Robin!" She rushed the two steps it took to kneel beside him, placed a hand on his chest. "Can I help?"
Beast Boy was currently fumbling with the lock to one of the last doors in the lengthy corridor. The dim light made it hard to differentiate from the different keys, even with his keen eyesight. The fact that his body was struggling not to tremble from the adrenaline didn't help the situation.
"I can see alright," he replied tersely to Babs, too focused on fitting the key in the lock to be polite. /Although a little more light really couldn't hurt./
He opened the door, motioning for the trembling figure inside to come on out. That was how most of them acted--initially scared, then timidly grateful as they crept over to the rest of their liberated brethren. Beast Boy moved over to the last door, counting on Batgirl and Mani to cover his back; handling the stupid ring of keys required more of his attention than it should have.
The changeling shorted derisively at Speedy's suggestion that he turn into an octopus to speed up the liberation process. Shaking a fist at the archer, he snapped, "It's kind of hard to use a key when you have /tentacles/!" Besides, the keys were all on one giant ring; it would take longer to pry them apart then to free the rest of the captured experiments.
With a relieved sigh, Beast Boy released the last captured metahuman from her cage. "That's all of them!" he yelled back to Robin, whom he couldn't see being tazed in the dim lighting and scuffling bodies.
"Ready to search the building?" he asked Babs, tossing her the keys. It would be a bit difficult to hold them while he was sniffing for any remaining captives as a bloodhound.
OoC; Oh! BryBry! It's the night before the day Speedy and Batgirl meet in his room, so at this point he's just dropping flirts and junk but they're not Them yet =D Interaction with Raven though a lot less flirty than usual since he's curious about Babs at this point; still friendly, just a liddle less interested| "Striiiike!" He roundhoused a nightguard upside his head, landing the oppressor into his backup like a bowling ball. Speedy was having way too much fun with this. He was messing around too much to think carefully about the OctoBoy thing, and let Beast Boy know. "Yeah yeah, my bad, what was I thinking..it just feels great to get out of the Tower like this, with you guys..!" Tensions had been rising ever since Robin and the others had noticed him and Babs whispering and their not-so-secret-anymore shared looks. He was on a bit of a high since they were to rendevouz tonight in his bedroom. Speedy was pumped for this and wasn't making very good decisions apparently, besides his cover-duty; that was flawless. Robin taking a dive from one of the guards' tasers was met in swift succession with the offending guard's nose being bashed in with his foot. Raven had already bent to attend to Robin; without really greeting her due to the situation/seeing Robin just drop like that, Speedy set himself up in front of them, looking over Raven's shoulder momentarily to assess his condition. (lol sorry guys, I'm not EXACTLY sure how electrical grounding works so if this is stupid forget it. Point is he's trying to ground Robin and is so worried he wants to be part of the connection instead of just attach Robin's hand to the copper. c: ) This might not deal with the pain aftermath but at least it would help get rid of the lingering source if he did it right. He dispatched some of the reinforcement guards before bending over and around Raven, taking Robin's hand, then held onto some of the copper tubing on the wall of this basement corridor, feeling a pulse move through his body and looking back over to the shocked hedgehog with concern in his eyes... "Those little tools're becoming a pain.." ...which didn't take long to dissipate. "..wouldn't you say Robbot?" He couldn't help the joking sure, but the last jab was at least said in the same concern-filled tone. They had to get all the experimentees out of here before even more armed reinforcements arrived. Even Robin was getting undermined. No wonder this place had been so difficult for Iris to escape.
Babs kept a lookout while Beast Boy unlocked every door in the long corridor, setting experiments free left and right. She was comforting the people that were freed, but only long enough to tell them "It's okay" and "We're here to help". She still had to watch out for any guards that would come their way.
When Beast Boy was finished and tossed her the keys, she caught them easily. "I'm right behind you, B." She smiled as she went to follow him, dodging the captives as they followed her directions out of the building. Hopefully they would make it out alright without being caught yet again.
For the moment all Robin knew was pain. He had dealt with pain before. Batman had taught him how to get through the pain. He'd survived Scarecrow's fear gas, being shot by the Joker, and being beaten within an inch of his life by Two Face. Pain might have been a familiar companion but it was always an unwelcome one. He barely registered the voices above him, seeing a blurry form bending over him. “Watch out!” he'd tried to warn because there were more forms on the other side sliding towards the first like terrifying half formed figures in a horror movie. His cry was more guttural and half formed words than anything else.
Then something heavy and fleshy fell on his legs and was pushed away almost as quickly. He didn't so much cry out in pain as make an uncomfortable noise and release the stale air in his lungs to gulp in fresh. Someone was grabbing his hand and putting it around something cold and metallic. Slowly the pain stopped. His limbs tingled and his entire body felt numb but at least it wasn't on fire anymore. He glanced up into Raven's worried purple eyes. “I'm fine,” he reassured her, completely comfortable with his lie. He tried to get to his feet but that's a hard thing to do when you can't feel the limbs you're trying to move. The Boy Wonder fell back down in a flailing of limbs letting out an “oof” sound and a hoarse laugh at Speedy's comment as a latent spasm racked his body. “Yeah. I say we confiscate them.” he would need a moment to get the feeling back in his limbs but already it was starting to dissipate. He shook his left leg and then his right like a cat trying to get something unpleasant off of his paw. “Just give me a moment to get some feeling back and then we'll give 'em a taste of their own medicine.” he added with a dangerous smirk.
Raven glanced up gratefully as Speedy knelt beside her, grounding the electricity out of their leader with a copper rod. Judging by the focus slowly returning to Robin's eyes, it worked and worked well. "Impressive," she commented to Speedy with a small smile-like-smirk, sitting back on her heels.
When Robin muttered something about being fine, Raven let it slide. She knew the blatant differences between the dictionary's version of 'fine' and Robin's own, but she also knew pressing the matter would be pointless. Robin wasn't an idiot, and he if he claimed to be fine, she trusted he could handle himself.
With a quick glance around, Raven spotted Iris, still in the hallway, and still safe. She breathed an involuntary sigh of relief, and stood, glancing down again as Robin shook out his legs.
"Is there a certain destination you have in mind for me to transfer the experiments?" she asked him, stretching out an arm and preparing to voyage through space and time once more.
Beast Boy's human form quickly shifted into that of a bloodhound. He retreated from the fighting so he could gather his senses, hearing the quick patter of feet as Batgirl followed him. Nose to the ground, several minutes of intense sniffing were needed before the green dog suddenly bayed loudly and ran towards a flight of stairs. He shouldn't have been so loud, really, but instinct was hard to ignore at times.
Shifting into a raven to avoid climbing up the steps, Beast Boy spiraled up a few flights before stopping on the fifth floor. He waited, rather impatiently, for Babs to catch up before moving on, in the form of a bloodhound once more.
The changeling's sniffing stopped at one of the doors in the corridor; the sign was difficult to read in the dim lighting. Wagging his tail triumphantly, Beast Boy reverted to his human form and opened the door with a flourish; there were no guards in sight.
There weren't even any humans in sight either, superpowered or not. True to his nature, the boy who could turn into animals had led Batgirl to a bunch of...lab animals.
ooc: I don't know what ferocious things to conjure up for BB and Babs to deal with. Inspiration is needed! xO
This running thing was overrated. She panted as she followed after Beast Boy, stopping now and then to catch her breath. Even as a dog, Beast Boy left her in the dust.
She was glad to see that he had eventually stopped at the top of the stairs, which were just about /killing/ her legs, to wait for her. Smiling but not having the breath to say /thanks/, Babs followed him down another corridor and finally to a room.
When Beast Boy opened the door, she was expecting to see more captives... not animals. Rolling her eyes, she walked in and started opening cages, fingers fumbling.
When she and Beast Boy had opened the last of the cages, animals were on the floor everywhere. She was careful not to step on them as she exited the room, coming face to face with about seven guards. "Uh, Beast Boy? A little help here?" She yelled over her shoulder as she aimed a kick right at the first guard's solarplexus. The guard dropped to the ground and she went after the next, throwing kicks and punches.
Beast Boy could see that Batgirl was a little miffed when she saw he had led her to a bunch of caged animals rather than experimented humans. Well, this was where his nose had led him to first; she would have to deal with his affinity for animals in need. Besides, a part of him remembered Iris mentioning something sinister on the seventh floor, and they would probably get there before the rest of the team to check it out.
He went to work with Batgirl, opening all of the cages that didn't require keys to unlock them. During this liberation process, he would transform into a certain species of animal to try and spread the message that these creatures were now freed and needed to escape.
He was working with the species of his final transformation, a couple of small alligators, when Babs' call for help caught his attention. Changing into a sparrow, he flew over the animal-infested room and began pecking at the nearest guard's eyes.
When she, along with Beast Boy, had taken down the last two, she wiped her forehead with the back of her hand. She was exhausted from lack of exercise. After she had left Batman, she had stayed at home for a week before heading to Jump City. That had been a mistake. It only took that week to get her out of shape again.
She stood against the wall, breathing heavily as animals of all shapes and sizes raced out of the room. "Beast Boy." She panted. "Let's find the other /human/ captives." The animals weren't the only captives in this building, and Batgirl knew Beast boy also knew it. Robin had told them to get to the human captives before the animal ones, and Batgirl was slightly upset that Beast Boy had led them here first. "Come on. We need to find them soon before the others are finished."
Beast Boy frowned ever so slightly. He wasn't really mad at Batgirl, but by his reasoning he felt he had acted correctly. There had been no scent of any other experiments below the fifth floor. Thus, in a strange yet logical manner, the changeling had planned to free captives, both human and animal, from floor to floor. He didn't want to skip around floors and tire himself out so he could show special deference to humans.
"Well, animals are people too! Wait no, that didn't come out right," Beast Boy muttered, feeling sillier than normal now that he had butchered whatever quote he was trying to say.
"Um, yea, let's just go," he muttered sheepishly, shifting into a bloodhound again so he could locate the next batch of captured individuals. He was fairly sure he had smelled something a floor up, so with a small woof, he loped over to the stairs an clambered up them again. He was merciful enough to stay a dog rather than fly up the stairs so Babs could keep up.
"Right! They can have their toys back when school is out." grinned the archer at Robin. Relieved at his fearless leader's recovery, Speedy got back up, but not before winking at Raven. At least, he thought the action was hinted at well enough even with these domino masks in the way. "Glad I didn't let you down, Princess. There's more to come, stay tuned. Look at only me." he cooed as something in the future between them snapped ironically, irreparably. "What is our next objective again? Something about the seventh floor sticks out in my memory, people. Talk to me." said Speedy, turning his attention back to their general surroundings. No more reinforcements around as of yet. Were they headed back upstairs once Raven moved the escapees to safety?
"Wouldn't look anywhere else," Raven quipped back at Speedy with an amused smirk. She looked back at Robin, waiting for her orders, and waiting for his desired rescue point. Looking around, she counted at least twelve experiments milling around in fear.... And they weren't even finished yet.... This could get tiring.?
And just where had her little charge gotten off to? She looked around, quickly spotting Iris in the hallway.
"Hey you," she called to the girl. "Shadow, remember?"
Feeling was slowly coming back to his limbs and it was not pleasant. They burned and stung like he was in a nest of fire ants. Pain flooded back through his system, but this was the sort of pain he could move through, especially now that his limbs were aware of themselves again. He shakily got to his feet. “Take them to the base of the Tower but not inside. I don't exactly trust them inside our home unsupervised.” a half smirk flitted across his face as he moved towards the freed experiments. He stumbled a little, but managed to keep his head high. “Which of you can be a leader?” he asked.
“I can.” a young man with olive colored skin and curly black hair stepped forward.
Robin nodded to the other teenager. “We're going to get you all out of here. We're taking you to the base of our tower. I'm going to need you to keep everyone calm and together until we can arrive with the rest. Do you think you can do that?”
The young man nodded in response and Robin turned to Raven. “Raven will transport you, and explain before she does it.” he lowered his voice then, speaking only to Raven. “When you are done, come back.” he ordered. “We're going to need some help with the most dangerous experiments, I'm sure.” then he gestured that the little herd of freed experiments in front of them were all hers and turned towards Speedy.
“Come on, loverboy,” he said giving Speedy's arm a playful tug as he walked past heading for the stairs. “We're going down to the lowest levels to deal with the most dangerous experiments. Sound like fun?”
" Sure bro, on my way. After we have had our fun, Maybe we can play." At the last line, he blew Raven a kiss and sent a fluttery fingerwave her way, addressing Robin in the first two but it was clear who was addressed in the last. It was going to be a little less of a cakewalk than he was expecting, however. He followed Robin downstairs, and all was silent. Some acidic saliva dripped down from the rafters, originating from the chops of a mix between a human and scaly parental unit of one of the baby-alligators Beast Boy had last on his list to free upstairs where the animal experimentees were being held. Speedy felt his supersuit melt away along with some shoulder-skin, and winced, jumped back and looking up to narrowly miss a ten-foot-tall young adult, reptillian, female hybrid with a crazy look in her eyes descend upon him. He now grappled with the mind-and-body-poisoned young lady. "Eaaaasy doll, there's more than enough Speedy to go around! Play nice now!" An acidic hiss was all she bothered to answer with.

The roleplay takes place after the series end of the original Teen Titans animated show, but does not include the movie Trouble in Tokyo. Since then Robin has been on something of a recruiting spree, and many new young heroes have found themselves a home in Jump City as well as Titan Tower.
