Okay, maybe that was a little misleading, but he was still excited about it. Maggie's shirt was folded up next to her, and she was curled up napping on his bed. She looked pretty adorable right about then. Hellsmith tried to tread quietly so he wouldn't wake her, but quiet was another thing he wasn't good at. He was just lucky he didn't make enough of a ruckus to spook her again. She woke up, stretching groggily, and Brock just took in the view. There was a pretty girl in a swimsuit waking up in his bed. He was probably one of the luckiest demons in the world right then. Like, top ten at least.
He sat down next to her, returning her smile. "Yeah, it was a small job, and I've gotten good with this stuff." He handed the dagger over. The crossguard curled into a spiral at the ends, and the scabbard seemed to be one smooth, unbroken piece of leather. It was cold to the touch, but not wet. Both weapon and sheath seemed to defy all laws of physics. "Here. If you focus, you can shoot a cold blast out of the tip." He thought for a second before hastily adding. "Just not inside, okay?"
Wake up Mags, Maggie thought as Brock sat down next to her, tempted to rest her head on his shoulder like before yet fought against it. She needed to wake up, though nothing wakes up a girl more than getting handing a dagger made of out of ice.
"Oooh, its cold!" Maggie said then giggled, realizing that she had indeed stated the obvious. "I mean, thank you. Its really cool." Maggie said before wanting to facepalm herself. Really? You really have to go with the cold puns? She thought as she looked at her new dagger, studying it. It was a pretty little dagger that defied all laws of physics and it was hers.
Cool.
"Really? It can do that?" Maggie asked, interested in the thought of being able to shoot a cold blast out of the tip before carefully putting the dagger down so that she wouldn't accidently trigger it inside. She looked at Brock, a big smile on her face. "Thanks for the present. Its really pretty," She commented, before leaning ove and giving him a kiss.
Maggie was still a little groggy when he sat on the bed with her, but she snapped right out of it when he passed off the dagger. Cold things had that effect on people. Brock couldn't help chuckling a bit at her surprise. "Well, it is made of ice." Once she got over the initial shock, things started improving. She was wide awake and pretty excited about something he'd made. And they were sitting very close to each other. In his bed.
Hellsmith liked how this was going.
He let out another chuckle when she set the dagger down. Maggie seemed to be nervous about setting it off. "Don't worry, it responds to mental commands. It'll only do the frost spray if you really want it to." On second thought, maybe that was cause to worry. If Maggie was anything like him there was a chance she would set it off sometime just to see what happened, without thinking about the consequences. He knew she seemed more cautious than that, but there was always a chance. Maggie leaned in to thank him, and Brock leaned down to her, returning the kiss and putting an arm around her waist. This was going VERY well.
"Which is why i'm putting it down." Maggie said with a smile. She was tempted on trying it out, to see if it could actually release a cold blast just by the simple thought of it. It seemed impossible, though yet again she had to remind herself that she lived in a world of superheros and villians, as well as being on a date with an interdimensional demon.
She was going to study her little dagger, though she doubt she would need to know how to use it in a fight. Maggie wasn't a fighter.
Hes so warm, Maggie thought as he wrapped an arm around her waist as they kissed once again. Of course, when Brock asked what should they do now, Maggie frowned slightly before that impish smile returned. "Well, lets see. We've already gone for a swim-" Maggie said as she kissed his jaw. "-and i've seen the forge-" A kiss on the neck. "-so theres plenty of things we can do. We can test out my new dagger-" A kiss on the cheek. "-or do something like go see a movie. What do you think would be better?" She asked, once again kissing him on the lips.
As he suspected, Maggie had been tempted to use the dagger anyway, consequences and property damage be damned. It wasn't often that Hellsmith guessed something right. "Alright, good idea then." He tried to keep his mind on the dagger. It was hard not to let it wander, considering the position they were in.
Brock was getting more excited with each kiss. It was kind of a disappointment when she suggested weapon practice or a movie. That was just about the opposite of where he expected this conversation to go. He frowned, thinking it over. "The movie sounds a lot less painful. Well, depending on the movie I mean." He gave her a jokey grin. "Or we could just spend some more time together." His look was more playful then. He wouldn't mind going to the moving pictures with her, they were sort of awesome, but he would definitely prefer other things.
"Relax, I wouldn't make you go see a movie you wouldn't want to see," Maggie assured him, grinning up at him. So that would be a no to the Notebook and the majority of my favorite movies. Better save those til later. Perhaps action movies would be more of his flavor, Maggie thought. "Action movies more of your type, i'm guessing?" She asked, giving him a look over.
Yep, he would enjoy action movies and maybe horror movies as well, which would give her all the reason to cling to his arm in the theaters. She wasn't much of a horror movie fan due to being easily frightened, though she had a feeling that being in Jump City would change all of that. After all, scary stuff happens all the time here.
"Like we're doing right now?" Maggie teased, giving him a jokey grin right back. Now that she was getting used to the idea of him being an interdimensional demon, she was starting to relax more.
Hellsmith considered for a moment. He was still new to movies in general, genres were a little trickier to pick out. "Action can be cool. Horror, too." He liked the idea of Maggie clinging to him for safety. Aside from making him feel manly, it would be nice to feel her pressed up against him. Yeah, horror was sounding better by the second.
If Maggie got what he meant by spending time together, she didn't show it. Not in a way that Brock recognized, at least. His grin took on a more flirty tone. "Or something like that." Brock gave her a wink. This date had gone pretty well so far, he was hoping it would get even better. Maybe she would take the hint this time.
"Cool. I'll need to look up some movies and see if there are any good ones out. It will be another date," Maggie said, smiling at the idea of another date with him. She questioned asking him if they were anything official or not, yet instead kept silent. She was far too comfortable and didn't know what all to suspect if she should ask.
"What? What were you thinking of?" Maggie questioned, tilting her head as she looked up at him, frowning slightly. Though her ability was a mental one and not physical, it didn't mean that she was all that intelligent. She was a ditz and okay with that.
"Great!" Hellsmith grinned, nodding. This was gonna be good. Maggie was great, movies were great, and combining the two would just be perfect. He was fine with leaving the movie research to her. Brock was still getting used to technology, and the internet was a confusing place. You could never tell what was actually true. That "Onion" site had given him trouble more than a few times.
Unfortunately, Maggie still wasn't getting it. She was sitting on his bed with his arm around her and she still didn't understand what he meant. For once, Brock didn't feel like the biggest doofus in the room. He stayed patient, keeping a playful smile. "Well, we've got the place to ourselves." Brock gave her a wink.
Well someone likes taking things quickly, Maggie thought as she frowned, unsure of what to say about this development. "True, but um.." Maggie said as she looked flustered, unsure of what to say. She was a bit overwhelmed and uncomfortable with how fast this, whatever it is, was going. For petes sake, she was at him house, sitting on his bed and he had an arm around her and this was only just the second date!
She was very much overwhelmed when she ought to be simply whelmed. She moved away from him, looking. "I don't know. This is going so fast too soon. I mean, this is our second date and look where we are sitting!" She said, being the party pooper.
Brock was a little disappointed, but her answer gave him some hope. After all, she hadn't dismissed the idea outright. Maybe the second date was a little fast for her tastes, but future dates still had plenty of potential. Maybe the third date.
"Alright." Brock smiled, kissing her on the forehead. No sense being all pushy and scaring her off. Besides, she seemed to like the sweet act. That would probably score him hella points. "So, what else did you wanna do? Weapon practice?" He tried to think back to what they'd been discussing before. In their position, he was having a little trouble getting his brain to work. "You ever use a dagger before?" Sometimes he forgot how few modern folks were trained in medieval weaponry.
"Thank you sweetie," Maggie said as she closed her eyes when he kissed her forehead. She was relieved that he was so understanding and not pushy in the slightest. It was winning him brownie points, thats for sure.
She smiled at the idea of weapons practice, for it would allow her control and not look like a complete idiot when using it. "Alright, lets do that." Maggie said as she got up, picking up her new dagger with care. When Brock asked her if shes ever used a dagger before, Maggie couldn't help but laugh. "Of course not. The closest i've ever come to using a dagger is a kitchen knife from when i'm cooking." She said before suddenly becoming serious. "Wait, am I going to have to stab someone with this?"
Oh, that's right. Most people aren't too keen on stabbing these days. This wussy modern society took a lot of getting used to. "Not with this one. Come on, I'll show you." He stood, gesturing for Maggie to follow, and headed outside. Brock had a smile on his face. He'd already gotten in her good books, and de-emphasizing the stabby aspect would probably get him some more points.
In the yard, there were a few hastily-made scarecrows sitting out. Brock picked up his hammer, pointing it at one of them. "Here, point the tip of the dagger at them like this, then focus on blasting them with the frost." He stepped back again, standing beside Maggie. The hammer probably hadn't been the best for demonstrating, but it gave him an excuse to bring it closer to her. It was a conduit for magic, and would give the dagger's powers a bit more oomph just by being next to her.
Maggie relaxed at hearing that no, she wouldn't have to stab someone to use this dagger, for she wasn't a stabber and probably would get herself killled in an instant. She intended on using the dagger simply for protection, especially seeing how dangerous a neighborhood Brock lived in.
"Alrighty, can do." Maggie said as she did what she was told, pointing the dagger at the sccarecrows and concentrating. The frost shot out from the dagger with such force that Maggie stumbled backwards, eyes wide as she looked from Brock to the scarecrows. "Oh my gosh," Maggie stated before laughing. She had gotten half of the scarecrow she had been aiming at, which she counted as a success.
In hindsight, maybe it was a mistake to use the hammer. The blast was a bit stronger than intended, sending Maggie staggering. Without the boost from the hammer it probably would have been able to just say "screw physics" and not have any recoil, but it couldn't compensate for the extra force. "Yeah, forgot to tell you to brace yourself." He put out a hand to steady her.
Brock looked over at the scarecrow and nodded in approval. Half of it was covered in an inch-thick layer of ice, as was a sizable patch of ground around it. Maggie seemed pretty pleased too. Brock smiled down at her, putting an arm around her shoulder. "Pretty cool, huh?"

The roleplay takes place after the series end of the original Teen Titans animated show, but does not include the movie Trouble in Tokyo. Since then Robin has been on something of a recruiting spree, and many new young heroes have found themselves a home in Jump City as well as Titan Tower.
