"I'll say," Maggie laughed, smiling up at him when he put out a hand to steady her. The dagger had alot of power, alot more than she thought it would. Course, that would be the logic trying to talk and make sense of this illogical device that was now hers.
She looked to the scarecrow and studied it. There was a covering of ice, nearly an inch thich, on half of it and of the ground meaning she needed to fix her aim. She braced herself this time, ready for the recoil as she contentrated once more. Frost shot from the dagger at hitting the scarecrow in the legs and torso, leaving the head untouch, as though to allow the scarecrow to still breath.
Maggie smiled up at Brock as he put an arm around her shoulders. "Very cool. This will come in handy if I ever find myself in trouble," Maggie said.
"Heh, cool." Who knows how long after that pun started being slung around, Brock finally got it. This modern language stuff could be confusing sometimes. Now that he thought of it, Maggie could probably understand his native tongue. Only problem was that she couldn't speak it, so it would only be half a solution.
"It mainly does an area blast, kind of like a cone. If you want it focused smaller, you gotta concentrate on that." Brock loved teaching people to play with his toys. He couldn't use them himself, but he got a bit of a vicarious thrill seeing someone try them out for the first time. "It'll probably take some practice. And the power can fluctuate a bit, so you gotta watch for that." He probably didn't need to tell her he was boosting it to make it look cooler.
Wait, did he just now get the pun? Maggie thought as she looked up at him from the corner of her eyes, curious on what his response would be if she asked. Now that she was done with the whole freaking out over him being an interdimensional demon, which is something shes soo not telling her parents, she was curious about a few things.
"Smaller area, more focus. Got it," Maggie chirped, focusing on making it smaller as she concentrated again. This time the blast was smaller and more accurate, which made Maggie smile. "So, is Brock your real name or a false one, like a secret identity?" Maggie asked, looking up at him with a curious look, a smirk on her face. "Brock doesn't really scream 'Interdimentional demon' to me, you know?"
Maggie was catching onto this magic stuff pretty quickly. Brock nodded, giving her another smile. At this rate, she'd be slinging around frost blasts like a mad ice queen in no time. This was gonna be so cool.
The name issue was a bit more worrisome. He wasn't sure how much he could tell her. Brock stood there, thinking for a moment before answering. "Well, it's short for Brokkr. That's what I usually go by." He probably should have left it there, but this was Maggie. He wanted to seem all trusting and stuff. "I got a True Name too, but I can't tell anyone. True Names are powerful, if someone found out they could get all sorts of power over me." There, that should do it. He had told her just enough to be even more mysterious, but not give away his weakness. What could possibly go wrong?
He stayed silent, appearing to be debating on what to say while Maggie watched, patiently waiting. When he finally spoke and told her what Brock was short for, Maggie smiled brightly, happy that she knew what his name was short for. "Brokkr?" Maggie repeated, testing to see what it sounded like on her own lips. It sounded old, though it fit the whole image of him being a interdimentional demon alot better.
In finding that Brock-Brokkr had a True Name, one that he couldn't tell anyone, Maggies eyes widdened as her attention went to him. "Really? Thats crazy," Maggie said, though was it really? Having a true, secret name was often in story books, like in Rumplestiltskin or whatever his name was, so perhaps it wasn't that farfetched after all. "What would happen if someone said your true name? Like, would they have some sort of creepy control over you or would they be able to summon you by saying your name three times?" Maggie asked, wondering suddenly if he has ever seen the movie Beetlejuice and if he would enjoy it.
Hellsmith had said enough. It was a really bad idea to go around telling your weaknesses to girls you've barely known 24 hours. Anybody would know that.
Then again, Hellsmith wasn't just anybody.
"Well, it depends on how much they know. A good mage could probably control me or summon or banish me or whatever, but just hearing it can mess up my powers. Keep me from transforming, make my hammer reject me, that sort of thing." He was probably telling her a dangerous amount at that point, but Maggie seemed interested. He had her attention, and he was going to milk that for all it was worth.
Maggie looked at Brock/Brokkr in horror as he spoke on how someone could control him, shuddering at the thought. "Thats horrible!" She stated, overthinking the hidden horror of it all. Would he be aware of someone else controlling him or would he black out and have no idea? Would the evil mage or whoever make him do things that are morally wrong? Could they make him kill someone?
That thought was downright nightmare inducing, which may be why Maggie quickly wrapped her arms around him in a hug in a way to comfort not him but herself. She was a hugger, after all. "No one knows your name but you, right?" Maggie asked, looking up at him with a worried expression. What if someone did learn his name and messed up his powers when he truly needed them?
Aw yeah, jackpot. Maggie seemed pretty sympathetic about the True Name thing. "Yeah, it kinda sucks. I've never had it done, but most of the others it's been done to get kinda cranky afterwards." He decided it probably wouldn't be good to mention just how cranky they got. Maggie wasn't the kind of girl who would like to hear stories of demons taking their bloody vengeance against their former masters.
Brock cocked his head, trying to think. It wasn't necessarily easy. "Well let's see. There's Durandal, the guy who gave me my powers. And then there's Kairos, but he knows anything anyway. They're both pretty trustworthy, though. And I don't think anything could force them to do anything they don't want." He shuddered a little at the thought. His bosses were horrifyingly powerful, even to him. The idea of something bossing them around was too much for even Brock.
"I would think so! I'd be more than cranky if someone possessed me and made me do things I normally wouldn't do!" Maggie said, glad to hear that it hasn't happened to Brock before. She didn't want to be the one to remind him of such a horrific thing. And to her it was horrific, because to not be in control of your own body? That was something from a nightmare, and it freaked her out that someone could do that just by knowing your name!
Maggie looked up and listened as he thought of all who knew his name, which appeared to be only two people. Durandal and Kairos, Maggie thought, wanting to remember those names, just to be safe. However Brock seemed to think they were trustworthy, so that was a positive for them, right?
When Brock shuddered Maggie tightened her hug on him and leaned her head against him in her attempt to comfort him. "Well just be careful, okay? Don't want to see you get hurt." Maggie stated as she looked up, frowning at the very idea of him being hurt. Because that would mean that something really bad had happened and she would probably be hiding for dear life or dead. Hopefully hiding.
Brock was a little confused about the possession thing. It seemed Maggie wasn't entirely clear on how the commanding worked. "It's not really possession. You just gotta do what they say and you can't act against them. There's usually some loopholes, though. Most of the older demons I've met are like contract lawyers, they can weasel outta pretty much anything." Personally, Hellsmith didn't really have the patience or wit for that. He just hoped he never needed that sort of brainpower.
Aww, Maggie was worried about him! Brock gave her a big smile and kissed her on the forehead. "Don't worry, I can handle myself." He wasn't really too worried about all that True Name stuff. He figured nobody knew it, and he wasn't really a known enough figure to research. He wasn't really thinking about other ways someone could find it.
Oh. Oohhh. "Oh, I thought- nevermind, seen way to many scary movies and got it all wrong." Maggie admitted, before frowning. "Well then its a type of control. I mean your still havin to do things you don't want to do and you'll be aware of it, which is still terrifyin." Maggie pointed out, shuddering at the thought.
Maggie listened as he talked about some of the older (interdimentional) demons who seemed pretty skilled at finding loopholes and getting out of things, hoping that he was on good terms with them just in case.
Maggie couldn't help but smile when he gave her a big smile and kissed her on the forehead. "I know. You got your strength and your power, but I can't help but worry." Maggie said, once more concentrating on the scarecrows. The frost was accurate, hitting only the torso of the target, and Maggie smiled. She was getting good at this.
"Yeah, I hear it can get pretty creepy. Some of them kinda have fun with it though. There's one guy, the Scribe, he just goes out of his way to sass his master the entire time. Nothing stopping him from doing that. Like one guy was talking about how wise and powerful he was, and Scribe called him adorable." Hellsmith grinned a little at the thought. He didn't know if he'd be able to keep his cool like Scribe, but then again Scribe was older and he'd been active nonstop. The guy was kinda experienced, he was probably just bored with being summoned by now. Hellsmith wished he could gather up that level of chill.
"Aw, thanks Maggie." He was considering another kiss when the ice blast derailed that train of thought. "Whoa, great shot!" He offered a hand for a high-five. Well, with Maggie's height, it was more of a mid five for him.
Maggie smiled, giggling at the idea of some guy/demon/thing being told to do something and doing it but sassing the entire time. It was a pretty entertaining image. "Well good, i'm glad that there is still some free will and whatnot when that happens. And Scribe sounds mighty funny," Maggie mused, laughing at the thought of someone acting all high and mighty and then someone calling them 'adorable'. Might need to remember that incase I do run into someone with an inflated ego, Maggie thought.
"Welcome," Maggie said, her smile growing bigger when he told her that her last shot had been great. She gave him a high-five, grinning from ear to ear, as she looked around. "Any other helpful hints, coach?" Maggie asked, half teasing half serious.
Brock nodded. "Yeah, Scribe can be kinda funny. I mean he gives people a hard time, but he's funny about it." He didn't mention Scribe's scary side. Maggie probably didn't want to hear about his funny friend strolling down streets, torching everything while singing showtunes. She wasn't the kind of girl who would be impressed by that.
Hellsmith scratched his head, trying to think. He really wasn't good at this whole teaching thing. Brock was pretty bad at explaining things, even things he could do himself. He'd never been able to use his weapons, so he had to teach based on hearsay. "I think you're doing pretty well. Just practice a bit, you'll get the hang of it." He put a hand around her waist, smiling down at her. She was showing great progress, she'd be going power-mad in no time at all.
"Well thats good. Its a positive way to things, given his situation," Maggie said, looking at the targets with narrowed eyes. She wondered about the ice that now covered them, wondering if it would simply melt away or stay like that until an outside source melted it all away. She'll have to test it later when shes alone.
Maggie looked up at Brock as he scratched his head, looking as though he was unsure of what to say. Well duh, he can't even use these weapons. He might not know, Maggie thought as he put a hand around her waist, a smile appearing as she looked up at him. "Can do. And thanks again for making it for me," Maggie said, thanking him for her ice dagger. Sure, she'll only use it to defend herself and to test out the ability of the dagger. Of course, she had no idea of the consequences of owning and using such a weapon will have on her.
Just wait.

The roleplay takes place after the series end of the original Teen Titans animated show, but does not include the movie Trouble in Tokyo. Since then Robin has been on something of a recruiting spree, and many new young heroes have found themselves a home in Jump City as well as Titan Tower.
